Surviving on the treacherous Iron Seas requires a heart of steel…but how can Yasmeen hope to survive when her heart has already been stolen by Archimedes Fox…?
Tethered along the south dock of Port Fallow, Captain Yasmeen Corsair’s magnificent new airship, Lady Nergüi, awaits its departure with adventurer and treasure-hunter Archimedes Fox. But this time, Yasmeen, a fearless mercenary who has always prided herself on a heart of steel, has reasons to worry when Miles Bilson, an acquaintance from Archimedes’ earlier smuggling days, sends an urgent message requesting help.
With a past marked by betrayal, Archimedes wonders what his former partner could want—other than revenge. Yasmeen fears that Bilson could threaten everything Archimedes holds dear. Though both Archimedes and Yasmeen love the exhilaration of veering wildly off course, neither is prepared for where there newest risk will take them…or what it might cost them.
Tethered was previously published in Heart of Steel.

This story had adventure, excitement, love and a full spectrum of emotion. I laughed, I cried, I was so angry I almost threw my Nook and my heart sighed, just a bit. And that was just in the first 30 pages.

We first met Yasmeen, Captain Corsair, in The Iron Duke, the first book in Brook’s Iron Seas series. She was the featured character in book two, Heart of Steel, where she fell in love with adventurer Archimedes Fox. This novella is a continuation of their story, which shows them after their happily-ever-after in HoS. Archimedes gets a visit from an old friend who wishes for his help rescuing his brother. Archimedes weighs the risks and decides against it…but is soon blackmailed into it. Neither Yasmeen nor Archimedes are anyone’s idea of a victim, but they play along while they figure out a way to stop their enemies.

Brook is one of the few authors I know who can write novellas just as well as full-length stories. There was no piece of this that felt rushed or disjointed. My only complaint was that it ended. If Brook decided to make a serial out of The Adventures of Archimedes Fox and Captain Corsair I wouldn’t complain.

A stellar read. I highly recommend it. Even to those who haven’t read the series.
