Tracy’s review of Big Bad Wolf (Others #8) by Christine Warren

Missy Roper’s fantasies have revolved around Graham Winters since the moment they met. But the imposing leader of the Silverback werewolf clan always seemed oblivious to Missy’s existence. At least he was, until Missy collides with him at a party and then abruptly runs away—arousing Graham’s interest…and wild desires. Lupine law decrees that every Alpha must have a mate, and all Graham’s instincts tell him that the sensual, beguiling Missy is his. Trouble is, Missy is human—every delectable inch of her. Convincing his clan that she’s his destined mate, and keeping her safe from his enemies, will be the biggest challenge Graham has ever faced. And now that he is determined to have her—as his lover and as his mate—Missy’s world is changing in ways she never imagined…

Graham is bored. Bored with the women in his life. He’s a total playboy but even after energetic sex he’s left wanting. There’s something missing and he’s pretty sure it’s a mate. When he catches sight of Missy’s ass at her friends’ party he wants it. That’s right, her ass. He’s all about the physical…at first. He practically abducts Missy and takes her home. After he calms down he realizes two things – who she is…and that she’s his mate. Of course convincing her is going to take some time and he’s going to have to be delicate with the matter which is not his forte. Then there’s his cousin who has called a matehunt and since Missy’s his mate she has to be there too – even if she is human.

This is a rewritten expanded version of Warren’s original novella, Fur Factor, which I read years ago. I was excited yet hesitant to read this book as you just never know what you’re going to get. I shouldn’t have worried, of course, as Warren did a great job of it. The book had all the wonderful elements that I’ve become accustomed to in her stories – love, romance, great sex and shifters who actually shift all wrapped up in a wonderfully written package.

If I had any niggles at all about the book (and it’s only the book, not the story) it would be the editing. It may have been because it was rewritten that there were some issues with body part placements or things that Missy was thinking about that hadn’t actually happened yet. But the story itself? Very good. If you haven’t read any of the Others series and you like shifters you should look into them. Great contemporary romances with all the best parts of the paranormal world thrown in.

Rating: 4 out of 5
