Casee‘s review of Atlantis Redeemed (Warriors of Poseidon Book, Book 5) by Alyssa Day.

The fate of Atlantis is on the line-and the future of the world is at stake…

Poseidon’s warriors have learned that the battle to protect humanity produces unexpected enemies-and alliances. But none more unexpected than the bond between a cursed Atlantean warrior and a woman whose sight surpasses any lie.

This is a series that gets more interesting as each book is released. The first book was pretty good, but the world building since then has been phenomenal. In this series, vampires and shapeshifters are known to humans. Vampires have their own house in Congress, fcol. There are human rebel groups that against vampires and their plans for the human race. Helping them are Poisedon’s warriors of Atlantis. The elite few have been given the duty of protecting the world from vampire domination. Only after their job is done will Atlantis rise.

Brennan is one of those warriors, cursed two thousand years ago by Poisedon himself. Brennan hasn’t felt emotions since the day he was cursed. The curse states that he will know no emotion until the day he meets his true mate. When that happens, he will be destined to forget her every time she leaves his sight. Only when she dies will he fully remember her.

Talk about a doozy.

Brennan first sees Tiernan in a previous book. He goes a little bonkers, something that his comrades are shocked to see. All Brennan feels is a possessive urge to protect what he considers his. Two thousand years of emotions blind him to anything but getting Tiernan from himself.

After being spirited back to Atlantis, Brennan and Tiernan are separated. Circumstances force them together when Dr. Litton, the epitome of mad scientist, starts experimenting with mind control. They both go in undercover, Brennan as an elusive billionaire able to fund Dr. Litton’s “project” and Tiernan as a ditsy reporter there for a neuroscience convention. In reality, Brennan is there to find out what he can about Dr. Litton and those associated with him. Tiernan is there to blow the doors wide open on what killed her best friend Susannah.

Not only do Brennan and Tiernan have to worry about sticking to their covers, they also have to be concerned with the fact that Brennan can forget Tiernan anytime she’s out of his sight. When they are captured and separated, it’s not good.

Brennan is one of the more interesting warriors. Being emotionless for two thousand years obviously has something to do with that. I have been looking forward to his story since I read Justice’s book. Tiernan and Brennan were perfect for each other. They helped each other overcome a past that has haunted them both (it has obviously haunted Brennan for a little longer).

The whole vampires in politics thing is really interesting to read about. Alyssa Day really has taken this world to another level since the series first came out. She has a knack for getting your emotions involved. There is no exception in Atlantis Redeemed.

4 out of 5.
