Hero of the Month: Sebastian Vaughan.

It’s been a lot of months since I’ve done up one of these dang posts and I apologize. I didn’t want this to fall to the wayside since I love these kinds of posts. I’m taking the reins on this once more and am stubborn enough to try valiantly to get these going again every month.

It’s been a couple of months since I re-read this book for Nath’s challenge and still I’ve got Sebastian on the brain so I thought it was a given that he’s got to be this month’s Hero of the Month.

While you’re reading this book, it’s so easy to become wrapped up in the story, in the characters but for me, it was really easy to fall into this story because of Sebastian. I loved him. I wanted to marry him. I wanted to have his kids. I still kind of do and that says things about me that I’m not really ready to face so yeah, let’s move on…

We meet Sebastian in a hotel room. Clare is at her friend’s wedding and she’s got some men issues and she’s tired of everything and wants to forget everything so she gets wasted and wakes up in a hotel room …with him.

He’s the guy that used to be a pain in Clare’s ass. He’s the guy that used to make her do all sorts of crazy things as a child and he’s the guy that used to tease her mercilessly. He knew her before she turned into the beautiful swan like heroine that she is today and as I read this book, I ate him up.

Sebastian is one of my favorite kinds of heroes. He’s a flirty, normal hero that is so glaringly male. Not really alpha but intense in his beta-ness. He was a writer but he wasn’t this weak skinny geek who wouldn’t stand up for his woman, he was smexy and I heart him. He was so much fun to get to know that it’s years later and still, I love him. Some of my most favorite things about him are the things that annoyed Clare, his heroine.

There are many reasons why you should read Rachel Gibson’s I’M IN NO MOOD FOR LOVE but Sebastian is the biggest reason of all. Read this scene to find out.

A guy would have to be desperate to attempt anything with Clare. Despite his father’s opinion of her, Clare Wingate was a ballbuster, adn it was a wise man who kept any part of him away from her.

Where do you think I get my ideas for all the loud, hot, sweaty sex I put into my books? she’d asked when she decided not to ignore him. It’s all carefully researched. A ballbuster with soft curves in all the right places, and a mouth that made a man think of oral sex. Which Sebastian figured was a shame and a total waste.

He flipped to the little teaser page in front and moved to his father’s leather recliner. He pulled the switch on the lamp and read as he sat.

“Why are you here, sir?” he read. “You know why I’ve come, Julia. Kiss me,” the pirate demanded. “Kiss me and let me taste the sweetness of your lips.”

“Holy Christ,” Sebastian swore, and turned to Chapter One. This should put him right to sleep.

***

“Late night?”

“Yeah,” He scrubbed his face with his hands. “What time is it?”

“About a quarter after two. Did you sleep in your clothes?”

“It wouldn’t have been the first time.”

“Out carousing again?”

“Carousing?” He dropped his hands to his sides. “No. I was up all night reading.”

It was on the tip of her tongue to tell him picture books weren’t really considered reading, but she was going to be nice today if it killed her. Calling him a dickhead the other day had felt good. for a while. But by the time she’d pulled into her garage, the elation had worn thin and she’d felt undignified and gauche. The nice thing – the ladylike thing – would be to apologize. She’d kill herself first. “It must have been a good book.”

“It was a interesting.” A ghost of a smile curved his mouth.

HE READ A ROMANCE NOVEL and he liked it! How frickin’ adorable is that? I totally think that Ryan Reynolds would make a GREAT Sebastian, don’t you think?

Sebastian’s book I’M IN NO MOOD FOR LOVE is available from Avon. You can buy it here. So what are you waiting for? If you haven’t read this book, make sure that you do, you won’t be sorry!
