2008 – The Best and The Worst

Posted December 23, 2008 by Holly in News | 9 Comments

Yes folks, it’s the time of year where we, as bloggers, sit back and take stock of what we read throughout the year and decide which were the best – and which were the worst. Beginning next week we’ll be doing a series of posts featuring our best and worst reads of 2008. We’ll also be highlighting the best new authors, heroes and heroines we met and a list of books we’re anxious for in 2009.

Also, on Friday I’ll be guest blogging at The Book Smugglers as part of their Smugglivus celebration (have y’all be following along? They’ve had some amazing guest bloggers and prizes to give away). I decided to talk about what makes a book for me..and what kills one. I hope you’ll come by and check it out.

In the meantime: Bloggers – do you do best/worst lists every year? Why or why not? Non-bloggers – do you like seeing the lists up at the blogs you frequent each year? Why or why not?

Those lists? Love’em. I’m still thinking about mine (though I’ll only include my ‘best’) and this year, I have to say I’m amazed at how often certain titles have been popping up.

BTW – just posted my review of ‘Driven’, which I won here (thanks, ladies!) in case you track that sort of thing.

Yes, I love those lists. Keep them coming, please. I frequently use them to guide my reading.

I don’t blog, I just enjoy reading everyone elses. I really like the lists *I always wonder what criterion people use to make their selections*.

    Looking forward to reading yours.

I don’t have a list but I like to read others’. I’m always up for new reads and authors that I may have missed.

  5. Hi! Nice blog. I don’t read romance novels but like to know other blog writers. Have a nice weekend! Oh yeah, it’s only Tuesday! haha Happy Holidays!

  6. I love the lists, and I get great recs from the “best of”. This year mine is over at RNTV.

I’ve never done a “worst of” but I read some clunkers this year so maybe I should *g*

  7. HI Rowena, Casee & Holly,

For a moment I thought I’d lost this site (mild panic…OK..major panic set in 🙂 Apologies for being AWOL – I’ve had RSI in both wrists (again) and so have been offline of late. But I’m back (as long as I take it easy 🙂

I don’t really do lists, but this year I’ve actually kept a list of all the books I’ve read. I think though, out of numerous amazing books, that my top book would have to be Blue-Eyed Devil by Lisa Kleypas. Why? Because reading that book made me look at myself and my life in a whole new way. And it made me realise I’m not crazy…not much anyway 🙂

Oh, and it is Christmas Day here so Happy Holiday! And thank you so much for all the amazing review! You guys rock 🙂

  8. I love reading everyone’s list, but as a writer, it’s also terrifying. You’re always scared you’ll be on the worst or not be on a best. LOL But I love reading them! 🙂 Can’t wait to see yours!
