Favorite Moments: Seduce Me at Sunrise

Since Holly already reviewed the book, I thought that we could have a Favorite Moments post instead of another review.

Obviously there was more than one great moment in this book. This was one of those historicals that has stuck with me long after I’ve finished. There are only two other LK books that this has happened with. Dreaming of You and Devil in Winter.

This is my first favorite moment. Merripen is remembering about the first time he saw Win.

There was a tap at the door, and it opened. His lips parted to snarl at the visitor.

“May I come in?” he heard a girl ask softly.

The curse died on Kev’s lips. His senses were overwhelmed. He closed his eyes, breathing, waiting.

It’s you. You’re here.

At last.

“You’ve been alone for so long,” she said, approaching him, “I thought you might want some company. I’m Winnifred.”

Kev drew in the scent and sound of her, his heart pounding. Carefully he eased to his back, ignoring the pain that shot through him. He opened his eyes.

He had never thought any gadji could compare to Romany girls. But this one was remarkable, an otherworldy creature as pale as moonlight, her hair silver-blond, her features formed with tender gravity. She looked warm and innocent and soft. Everything he wasn’t. His entire being responded so acutely to her that he reached out and seized her with a quiet grunt.

She gasped a little but held still. Kev knew it wasn’t right to touch her. He didn’t know how to be gentle. He would hurt her without even trying. And yet she relaxed in his hold, and stared at him with those steady blue eyes.

Why wasn’t she frightened of him? He was actually frightened for her, because he knew what he was capable of.

He hadn’t been aware of pulling her closer. All he knew was that now part of her weight was resting on him as he lay on the bed, and his fingertips had curled into the pliant flesh of her upper arms.

“Let go,” she told him gently.

He didn’t want to. Ever. He wanted to keep her against him, and pull her braided hair down and comb his fingers through the pale silk. He wanted to carry her off to the ends of the earth.

“If I do,” he said gruffly, “will you stay?”

The delicate lips curved. Sweet, delicious smile. “Silly boy. Of course I’ll stay. I’ve come to visit you.”

I love how this scene really began to show the connection that Win and Merripen would have.

So what was one of your favorite moments of Seduce Me at Sunrise? Lets discuss the awesome-ness that was Kev Merripen. And Win, too.

Agree with Katiebabs on this one. Page 244. When Kev says “You’re Mine” and kidnaps Win to claim her. ***SWOON***

  2. Lori

Some of my favorite moments were actually provided by Leo. He was awesome.

When he berates Kev for taking the easy way out when he though Win was going to die, and leaving Leo alive without Laura. Wow, powerful stuff.

And he also provides some great comic relief (and boy howdy – didn’t we need it with Kev’s intensity?)… When Win was going to set Harrow on fire, and Leo asks if it was going to be an annual ‘set the manse on fire day’. Or when he goes to bail Kev out of jail, but asks for a 5 minute head start. Priceless.

I can’t wait for his book. But I really liked this one, too!

  3. I adored this scene. Absolutely adored it. Let’s see, what else?

When Win set Dr. Harrow on fire. Dude, that was HILARIOUS. I actually laughed out loud. ha!

The scene Lori mentioned w/ Leo berating Kev for being willing to die w/ Win but forcing him to live w/o Laura. Good stuff.

Def. page 244 (Had to go look it up). Hawt.

The scene w/ Cam and Amelia that KB mentioned was funny, too.

    Let me ask you this:

    Was there a BAD scene?

  4. You mean too much major lusting and NOT ENOUGH sex, KB?

Oh, speaking of..that scene when Kev and Win are in the museum or whatever? When the cotton explodes all over them and he freaks out? OMG! Soooo hot.

  5. Another great scene is not with Kev and Win but when Leo meets the governess and she can’t stand him! I do believe that is a bit of foreshadowing on LK’s part for who Leo’s heroine will be 😀
