A man she could not resist

They said her father was dead, but Rennie Dennehy refused to believe that. Vowing to uncover the truth behind his strange disappearance, Rennie headed to the wilds of Colorado – and the only man who could help her. Bounty hunter Jarret Sullivan was a rogue with a smile as infuriating as it was irresistible. And though they shared a past she’d rather forget, seeing him again rekindled the flames of a desire she could not resist. . .and soon Rennie found herself surrendering to his wild sweet loving over and over again!

A woman he could not deny

The last woman Jarret Sullivan ever expected to see again was Rennie Dennehy. A man might do a lot of things for ten thousand dollars, but tangling with a wild Irish beauty wasn’t one of them! For months he’d been trying to forget her, but memories of the passion they’d once shared still haunted him. Now he had a second chance to take her in his arms and love her the way she was meant to be loved: with kisses of pure molten fire and of burning passion. Jarret didn’t plan on losing Rennie again. For this time he would not only make her his captive to his touch, but captive to his heart!

More 90’s cover hotness. Nice guns, Jarret.

This is the second book in the Dennehy Sisters series. Mary Renee is the twin sister to Mary Michael [see Wild Sweet Ecstasy]. I didn’t like Rennie until about 2/3 of the way through the book. She was a total shrew. She was just about TSTL. She would do the dumbest things. Rennie is an Engineer, yet she was incredibly stupid. I had to give her a break, though, b/c Jarret was maddening at the beginning. Basically she had a right to go a little crazy at the beginning. I’m surprised she didn’t stab Jarret while he slept. I would have.

Rennie and Jarret first meet in Wild Sweet Ecstasy. Because Michael and Rennie are twins, Rennie is in just as much danger as Michael. Enter Jarret. This is where the stupid stuff started. Rennie knew exactly why Jarret was there, but she tried to sneak past him any chance she could get. At that point, there was an attraction on both sides, yet neither one of them would admit it.

After the threat to Michael and Rennie is gone, Jarret leaves New York only to be jumped by several of Rennie’s fiancée ‘s friends. This was a turning point for Jarret because he loses the use of his right hand. As a bounty hunter, the use of his right hand is vital. He proceeds to bury himself in the bottle, doing only enough to get by. So when Rennie shows up in Colorado almost a year later, he’s not exactly thrilled to see her.

Rennie tracks Jarret down after a train accident that leaves Jay Mac presumed dead. Rennie refuses to believe that her father is dead until they find a body. With everyone in her family believing that he’s dead, Rennie is determined to go to the accident site, even if it means seeing the man she can’t forget. She’s not prepared for the person that Jarret has become and she doesn’t understand why he’s so different.

The mystery aspect of this book was something I didn’t see coming. I thought I knew who the villain was and I was correct. What I didn’t know was that there was someone else. I thought it was extremely well written and incredibly believable. So other than Rennie acting like a total moron for about half the book, I really loved this book. Jarret’s desperation over not having full use of his hand was so great that I felt it. It changed his life and made him look at the person he was destined to be.

The love story was really amazing b/c these two really didn’t care for each other at first. Of course there was lust, but they didn’t like each other. Both of them had to admit that they were wrong, which for people with as much pride as they had, was no easy feat.

4.25 out of 5.
