Booking Through Thursday: Mayday!

Quick! It’s an emergency! You just got an urgent call about a family emergency and had to rush to the airport with barely time to grab your wallet and your passport. But now, you’re stuck at the airport with nothing to read. What do you do??

And, no, you did NOT have time to grab your bookbag, or the book next to your bed. You were . . . grocery shopping when you got the call and have nothing with you but your wallet and your passport (which you fortuitously brought with you in case they asked for ID in the ethnic food aisle). This is hypothetical, remember….

Casee:

As much traveling as I’ve done in the past year, I can honestly say that this would probably be my worst traveling nightmare. Forget delays. Forget being stuck on the runway in a plane when the air doesn’t work. Flying without something to read is just too awful to even consider. BUT, if that was the case, I have just two words. Credit and card. I’ve found that a lot of airports have decent selection of books. Of course the prices are way inflated, but that’s airport shopping for you.

Holly:

For me, this would pretty much be a non-issue, because I carry my eReader with me everywhere I go. You might consider this cheating, but it’s true, I always have my Reader with me. It stays in my purse, or if my purse is full, it stays in my car while I run into a store.

However, in the interest of answering this fairly, if something crazy happened and I didn’t have my Reader (or my iPod, which I also take everywhere with me and found a hack to store eBooks on there, too) I’d just buy something either at the grocery store (surprisingly they have a good selection..and a lot of times you can buy books before the release date there) or the airport (they too generally have a good selection).

Wena:

Well, since I travel EVERYWHERE (even the grocery store) with at least 25 books with me, thanks to my nifty eBookwise 1150 that I keep in my purse with charger, I would just read one of the many books that I have on there. I just uploaded a bunch of Jo Goodman books, the Karen Templeton books that Sybil and Holly were pimping a few weeks ago and a bunch of other stuff that caught my eye so I think I’m set for any kind of emergency…=)

If you want to be prepared like me, just head on over to ebookwise.com and buy yourself an ebook reader, you won’t regret it and it will save lives, I promise cause if I didn’t have this sucker and had to answer this question, I’d probably say that I would shrivel up and die in one of the stalls in the bathroom at LAX from shere boredom… or be arrested for accosting one of the many superstars that fly out of LAX day in and day out…so see, ebookwise saves lives! LOL.

  1. I’d go nuts. Or just do like Katie mentioned and buy a bunch of magazines to keep me occupied. And I’d get a pen from someone so I can draw because that entertains me.

And chocolate. Lots and lots of chocolate.

  2. I am like you I cannot leave the house with out a book in my purse. My hubby thinks i am crazy and asks me why i need a book to go…. But I always tell him you never know.
