A shy Louisiana librarian, Mary Warner fears she'll always be alone—so she answers a personals ad from a rancher in Montana. Never before has she done anything so reckless, casting the only life she knows aside to travel to a strange place and marry a man she's never met. But something about this man calls to her—and she knows this may be her very last chance at happiness.

Tragedy made Travis Thompson the guardian of three orphaned children—and determination leads him to do whatever it takes to keep the kids out of foster homes. When he decides to take a long shot on a personals ad, the results are surprising, and before he knows it, he has agreed to marry a mysterious Southern woman sight unseen.

It could be the mistake of a lifetime. But Mary Warner may be exactly what this broken family needs. And with a little faith, a little trust, and a lot of love, two lonely hearts might just discover the true meaning of miracles.

I haven’t read too many books by Debbie Macomber. As a matter of fact, I think this is the one book of hers that I’ve read. And what’s even funnier is I picked up this book off my TBR shelf thinking I hadn’t read this book and when I was about half way through the book, I realized I had not only read the book, but I owned it as well, which means that I’ve got an extra book.

sigh

Oh well.

Not that I minded a reread of this book at all. When I started the book I noticed that the book sounded vaguely familiar. I couldn’t quite place where I had read this kind of storyline before, but as soon as the book picked up, I knew exactly when I read it and what I was going through when I read it. I was absorbed in Travis and Mary’s world and I just thought it was the cutest book.

Debbie Macomber’s world of cowboys and southern belle’s coming together over a want ad to raise three kids together made for a great and just fantastic story.

I enjoyed seeing them grow to love each other, these two perfect strangers who married not too long after they met. I enjoyed their interactions with the three kids that Travis inherited after a deadly car accident took his brother and sister in law out of their lives. I enjoyed seeing Travis come to love Mary even though he wasn’t the loving sort…or so he thought.

Seeing Travis and Mary fight with each other and make up with each other was an awesome treat for me because I’ve been having one of those crappy weeks. I really loved Debbie Macomber’s writing style and just the character development of each character was well written, I didn’t feel like it was rushed or anything, it was just right. The storyline was a good one, something I haven’t read before making it an original for me.

All in all this was a great reread and just a good time all over again, I picked a great Weekly Reread this week because I seriously want to hunt up some more Debbie Macomber books to add to my larger than my body TBR pile. I want more cute stories like this.

Has anyone read any Debbie Macomber books and can recommend some to me?

  1. I’ve read too. A Good Yarn and The Shop on Blossom street. They were cute little stories.

But I added this on my list, so i’m on the hunt for it.

  2. I have read Macomber years ago so I can’t remember titles but I know this book was my favourite by her. I found her stories going more towards the sweet side in sensuality and the last time I bought one of her single titles I don’t remember there being sex at all. Now normally, someone (not me) might be able to get past it but, the premise of the story was that the hero would help the heroine find someone in return for sex. So yeah. I was waiting and waiting and ….

Found it – Sooner or Later – second in a series of mercenary books.

I’ve seen those books Iz but I’ve never picked them up, I remember you said some of them were cute reads but I can never remember exactly which ones so I always chicken out before I get them…

    *sigh*

    I’ll do better, I promise.

    Cindy,

LOL, yeah in this book there wasn’t any real steamy sex scenes but I wasn’t that disappointed, I was cool with it…
