Tracy’s review of Worth the Risk (Miami Scorcher series #2) by Savannah Stuart

Marisol has one goal in life-kill the man who murdered her pack. But when she meets alpha werewolf Stephan and realizes he-s her mate, all her carefully laid plans dissipate in seconds. By all accounts, she should hate Stephan and everything he stands for. Unfortunately, every time the dominating wolf gets close, she can-t deny her growing attraction for the last man in the world she expected to want.

Undercover DEA agent Stephan is about to make the biggest bust of his career, but everything that can go wrong does. He never expected to discover his mate while on the job. She saves his life and his cover when he almost shifts in the middle of a crowded Miami nightclub, but that doesn-t mean he trusts her. The clock is ticking and if he doesn-t figure out what secrets the sexy vixen is keeping from him, he might lose his job-and his life.

The last thing that Stephan expects to find at a night club is his mate. But find her he does and even though he’s undercover as an arms dealer he hies off to one of his families homes in Miami to be alone with her.

But Marisol isn’t ready to bond with Stephan. She’s after the man who Stephan is trying to bring down and she’s prepared to kill him, and die in the process.

With both Marisol and Stephan hiding things about themselves it’s hard to get too close but they’re getting closer and more intimate every time they have sex.

I really enjoyed this second book in the series. Marisol really projects her dejection quite well and the fact that everything she’s ever wanted is right here at her fingertips and she’s willing to give it up to kill the man that slaughtered her entire pack. But Stephan gets under her skin and she’s not quite sure what to do about it.

I enjoyed Stephan’s character and I definitely like how he was with his family and with Marisol, but I couldn’t quite get a handle on him as the DEA agent. His job started to take a backseat when he found his mate and I couldn’t blend that info with the background info I got on him. I think that was an issue for him as well as he wasn’t sure how to blend home and work. His family plays such a huge part in his life but he wants to keep them safe and away from his work – but brought them in to take down his perp when they were needed. For all he didn’t know how to blend things he did a damned fine job of it. 🙂

It’s a fun and sexy shapeshifter book and definitely worth the read.
