What Are You Reading? (502)

Posted October 18, 2019 by Casee in Features | 5 Comments

Casee: I’ve read two books so far this month. Two (2!). Send help. So I’m still reading Vendetta Road by Christine Feehan. I’m liking it so far. Mostly. There are a few things that don’t work for me. I’ll get over them because it’s Christine Feehan and I love her. By the time I finish this book, I’ll have to start The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah for my book club.

I’m listening to Heart Thief by Robin D. Owens. Holly and Tracy convinced me to continue the series. I read Heart Mate way back in the day and didn’t really love it. This is the second book in the series. I wasn’t sure about the narrator, but now I’m really digging him.

Holly: I finished reading Angel in a Devil’s Arms by Julie Anne Long. It was good, though I didn’t enjoy it quite as much as the first book, Lady Derring Takes a Lover. I also finished listening to Heart Thief by Robin D. Owens, then moved on to Heart Sight. Both were good and I enjoyed returning to Celta, but I’m going to take a break from the series now. I also re-read Fairytale Come Alive and Quiet Man by Kristen Ashley.

Currently I’m listening to Silence for the Dead by Simone St. James and reading Warrior Fae Trapped by K.F. Breene.

Rowena: I read some books, y’all!! I don’t want to discuss much more than I read some books. I don’t want to jinx what I’ve got going right now so here’s what I read this week. I read The Bromance Book Club by Lyssa Kay Adams, which was a fun read. I also listened to Huge Deal by Lauren Layne for book club this coming Monday then I read Marriage on Madison Avenue by Lauren Layne, because I needed some more Lauren Layne in my life and enjoyed both of those reads and now I’m reading Blitzed by Alexa Martin. I’m really enjoying Alexa Martin’s writing style and I’m stoked that we’re getting Brynn’s book so I can’t wait for lunch time when I get dig right back into that one. So good. As soon as I’m done with Blitzed, I’ll be jumping into Four Days of You and Me by Miranda Kenneally because I can’t help myself. I’m a huge fan of her Hundred Oaks series and I’m mighty curious about life after that series so I’m going in and I don’t even care that this book doesn’t come out until next year.

What Are You Reading? (501)

Casee: I’m currently reading Vendetta Road by Christine Feehan. It’s pretty intense. I’m enjoying it.

I’m listening to Drowning to Breathe by A.L. Jackson. I’ve been listening to it since last week. I haven’t had much time to listen or read this week.

Holly: I finished Saving Grace by Julie Garwood, a long-time favorite. Even after all these years, it still gets me every time. After that I re-read Heart Fate and Heart Change by Robin D. Owens (the entire series is currently available in the Audible Escape package if you subscribe). The Celta series is a favorite and I was in the mood for something otherworldly. Now I’m listening to Heart Thief (yes, I am reading/listening all out of order).

I’m currently in the middle of Angel in a Devil’s Arms by Julie Anne Long. It’s really good so far. I loved the first book in the series, so I have high hopes this one will continue on as it began.

Rowena: This week was a really good reading week for me. I read so many books. I read Moonlighter by Sarina Bowen, The Bride by Julie Garwood, Twice in a Blue by Christina Lauren and last night I started The Bromance Book Club by Lyssa Kay Adams. I should finish that book tonight and then I’m going to jump into Marriage on Madison Avenue by Lauren Layne because yay for best friends to lovers romances and a bigger YAY for finally getting to read Audrey’s book. I’m stoked!

I enjoyed every single book that I read and I’m hoping and praying that my reading mojo will continue into this next week. Pray for me guys!

What Are You Reading? (500)

Casee: I am still reading Michele Mills Catastrophe series. I’m currently reading Live For You which is the third book in the series. I’m not sure how I feel about it yet. It’s very sexually descriptive and extremely over the top. I wouldn’t mind the descriptive part if it wasn’t so eye-rolling.

I’m listening to Drowning to Breathe by A.L. Jackson. It’s the second book in her Bleeding Stars series. I really enjoyed A Stone in the Sea, the first book. I just love A.L. Jackson period.

Holly: I re-read Now You See Her and Heartbreaker by Linda Howard. I enjoyed both. I read and listened to Don’t You Forget About Me by Mhairi McFarlane to review with Rowena. It was a lovely read. I’m glad she chose it for us. I listened to The Vine Witch by Luanne G. Smith, a Kindle First book. I really enjoyed it. I definitely recommend it if you’re in the mood for a gothic fairytale. I also listened to Aris by Sarah J. Stone and part of Shopping for a Billionaire by Julia Kent. They were both pretty awful. I couldn’t even finish the Kent.

I’m currently reading Wicked Garden by Bryn Donovan and listening to Saving Grace by Julie Garwood.

Rowena: First off, I can’t believe we’ve been doing this weekly feature for 500 weeks! We’ve been doing this thing forever it seems like. I’ve been really busy at work this week so I haven’t been reading as much as I can and the books that I am reading are all older books written by Julie Garwood. I read The Wedding, Saving Grace. Gah, I have so much love for both of those books and I think I’m going to continue re-reading my way through the rest of her backlist just cause I want to.

What Are You Reading? (+ Candis Terry Giveaway)

Posted September 27, 2019 by Casee in Features, Giveaways | 7 Comments

Casee: I’m reading a series by Michele Mills who is a new-to-me author. The series is called Catastrophe. It’s set in a post-apocalypse world. I am loving it. I’m currently on the second book, Kill for Me. I am really enjoying how intense the characters and their relationships are. They’re just adapting to the new world they live in and not wasting a moment. Which does mean that relationships are formed faster. Which is not for everyone. There are three books in the series so far and I can’t wait to finish them all.

I’m listening to A Stone in the Sea by A.L. Jackson. I continue to fall in love with this author with each book I read/listen to. Her stories are so compelling as are the characters. It’s the first book in the Bleeding Stars series. I’m also looking forward to reading the whole series.

Holly: I listened to The Wedding and Honor’s Splendour by Julie Garwood, and re-read Now You See Her by Linda Howard. For new-to-me reads, I listened to First Contact by Kat Green. I have to be honest, it was pretty bad. I’m still barely reading, so I’m not sure what I’m going to pick up next.

Rowena: Well, well, well…it is my fault that last week’s WAYR post did not go up and for that, I apologize. You guys missed an entire week of what we were reading because my life has been a freaking crazy rollercoaster for the last few months and I’m hoping and praying that it slows down so that I can catch my breath and catch up on everything that I’m behind on.

Anyway, in the last couple of weeks I read the following: Bringing Down the Duke by Evie Dunmore, Shadow Music by Julie Garwood, We Met in December by Rosie Curtis and I’m finishing up The Play by Elle Kennedy because after I finish it, I’ll be jumping back into Well Met by Jenn Deluca and then I’m not sure what’s next. I really want to make the most of my reading time since it’s been so iffy the last little while and I want to read all of the books while I still want to read. I’ve been going through moods of YES I WANT TO READ EVERYTHING to not wanting to read anything. Send help!

What Are You Reading? (+ Sarah MacLean Giveaway)

Posted September 13, 2019 by Casee in Features, Giveaways | 14 Comments

Casee: My reading this week wasn’t that much better than last week. I’m actually rather disappointed in myself. I’ve only read about three sentences of Lethal Nights by Lora Leigh since last Friday. See? Pathetic.

I’m listening to Take This Regret by A.L. Jackson. I’m not quite sure how I feel about it yet.

Holly: I finished Ain’t He Precious by Juliette Poe (aka Sawyer Bennett), which I’ll admit was pretty lame. I started listening to Satisfaction Guaranteed by Lauren Blakely after that, but I got distracted and stopped 1/4 of the way in. I’ll get back to it eventually. I was in the mood for a comfort read so I picked up The Secret by Julie Garwood, then read Ransom after. That’s it for me this week. My mom had surgery and my daughter broke her wrist, so it’s been crazy at Casa de Holly lately. Let’s hope this week is better.

Rowena: Oh yikes, I’m really late with this today. Sorry, time got away from me today. Right now, I’m reading Bringing Down the Duke by Evie Dunmore and so far, it’s okay. I’m not really blown away by anything going on but it’s still early days so I’m hoping that it will pick up. Wish me luck! After this, I’ll be jumping into Well Met by Jen Deluca and I’m excited about that.
