Contest Round Up: Last Chance To Enter

Posted May 30, 2008 by Holly in Giveaways, Reviews | 5 Comments

Today is your last chance to enter some of the great contests we’ve got running this week.

Only four hours left until the Pimp Jessica Andersen contest is closed. If you haven’t already, go post a quick note on your blog/website/myspace page about it, then leave a link for us in the comments. You have to do it by noon today according to the timestamp on the blog, though.

Leave a comment on Rowena’s review of Moose by Stephanie Klein and be entered to win a hardback copy. You have until midnight, so don’t delay! D’oh! I really shouldn’t try to post stuff before I’ve had coffee in the morning. The contest for Moose actually ended at midnight last night, which means the winner will be announced today (in like half an hour). Really, I’m going home and going back to bed. *sigh*

Leave a comment on Midnyte Dupree’s guest blog and you just might win a free download of her most recent novella, Finding Her Place.

And don’t forget to check out Shiloh Walker’s Scavenger Hunt!!

Also, be sure to check back next week. We have some great guest authors lined up to visit and quite a few more contests in store.

Guess what? It’s FRIDAY!!!! TGIF!

______________________

Hi Everyone! Midnyte Dupree here, stopping in to chit chat. Sometimes as an author, a wife, a mother, and a full time analyst (okay from 8-5, sort of), my life seems to run together. I know many of you can relate to having every minute of your time scheduled with something to do. Most of the time it isn’t for yourself, I imagine. (Although, I do hope you take time to read.)

That’s me. Being an author has forced me to cut out time for myself and let my imagination soar. All day I think about what someone else needs me to do and with my kids, my alone time has dwindled away. Even when my husband helps out, it just seems there is always more to do.

When I first started writing I couldn’t imagine having time to complete a little story with five thousand words, much less a story over that. That was just unimaginable. Yet, I have! It was a struggle to learn the ropes while also juggling the rest of my life, but once I got started and got a great support system, I couldn’t stop! There are so many wonderful authors and readers who are willing to help a newbie. I’ve had multiple stories published since 2005, but unfortunately, not all e-publishers have stayed in business. Resplendence Publishing has been great!

I first started writing when I found the website www.writing.com in 2004. I started reading others and started reviewing some of their stories, then before to long I was being encouraged to write something myself. It was great! I don’t get to go there much now, but every once in a while I drop in to just see how many have gotten published. It’s exciting to see others I’ve met on that website succeed as well.

Yesterday my book, Finding Her Place was released with Resplendence Publishing! The writing process from page 1 to the final copy isn’t easy, but seeing your story with the words Now Available beside them really makes the hard work worth it. There are so many people and decisions involved it never ceases to amaze me when a new story is released.

I love writing about ghosts, vampires, demons, and well, just about anything mythical or mystical. Finding Her Place has a sweet little spirit in there that I hope will capture your heart.

Thanks for stopping by today and checking me out!

I would love to hear from other readers! You can email me at klbjork@gmail.com or simply leave a comment or your question here.

If you leave a comment you have a chance to win a Free Download of Finding Her Place. And if you have already purchased Finding Her Place, email me the confirmation and I’ll send you a free story!

Thanks for reading!!

The war is over and Cameron Cabot no longer knows who she is. Her life was enveloped and consumed by the fight, but suddenly things have changed. Instead of fighting creatures wanting her planet, Cameron is now fighting the urge to lay claim to two men who believe she is their mate. Has Cameron found her new assignment in the arms of a Noah and Mars? Yes, if a mischievous little spirit has anything to say about it...

Cameron’s ship crash lands on a strange planet, and she wakes up naked in a strange bed to find two strange men snuggled up with her. They claim their king gave her to them and they want her for their mate, but Cameron is skeptical about love, because her heart has been broken before. A cute little spirit knows Cameron craves a family, however, and does her best to play matchmaker.

This was a cute little short story, with a fun setting and really hot sex. I liked both Mars and Noah. Mars is Commander of the Methuse army and Noah is their chief doctor. Both were strong and sexy in their own right, but I think Noah was the more sensitive of the two. At first Mars thinks this will be great, because he figures the only thing he’ll contribute is his seed to start a family. Watching him change his mind was great. I would have liked to know just a bit more about them, but since this is a short story, I’m willing to forgive the fact that we didn’t know them super well.

I did have a couple of issues, however. I found it odd that Cameron wasn’t more concerned about finding her friend, Simone, and making sure she was really ok,. Although an explanation was giving, it wasn’t a satisfactory one, in my opinion. Cameron is supposedly a soldier, a warrior, but they tell her her friend is recovering and fine and she just says, “Ok, I believe you.”? That didn’t really work for me.

There was also some cheesy dialogue between the three that I had to snicker over. It wasn’t too horrible or over the top, but it did make me roll my eyes.

I did really enjoy it, however, and I’m definitely interested in reading more from this author. I especially can’t wait to read Simone’s story (There is going to be a story for Simone, isn’t there??). For a short, erotic story it really hit the spot.

This book is available from Resplendence Publishing. You can buy it here in e-format.

The author is going to be visiting tomorrow, so be sure to check back for that. We’ll have a copy of the story to give away, too! =)
