After a wild storm forces her to take shelter in a small town inn, Dana Nelson thinks that all she has to worry about is a brief stay before she heads back to the city. She gets far more than she bargained for…

The last thing she expects is to run into an old flame, and even worse, the man who broke her heart twelve years ago. She’s sure that the only thing remaining between them is a strong attraction for another.

She can’t be more wrong…

The more time she spends with Vince Reynolds, the more she begins to believe she can trust him again. But, can she put her faith in the one man who captivates her, body and soul, or are some wounds too deep to heal?

On the way home from a business trip Dana has to pull into an inn because of a storm. Not only is she upset about the delay but she then sees her ex in the lobby which makes her even more upset. This was the man who broke her heart by cheating on her. She doesn’t even bother engaging in conversation and heads to her room.   Ready for bed she hears a knock on the door. It’s her ex, Vince, and he’s there to apologize…12 years after the fact. He says he was scared that they were getting too close and cheated purposely. He pushes into her room and tries to get her to accept his apology. When they part Dana thinks it’s over even though Vince asked her to think about getting back together with him. He then breaks in to her room to “watch over her” while she’s sleeping. Creepy. When they run into each other at a wedding soon after Dana realizes that her love for Vince never died.

This was a pretty short story so it didn’t have a lot of depth to it. Dana and Vince run into each other, they have a couple of meetings, some flashbacks to when they met when they were kids and then reconciliation. It’s not that it wasn’t a good story, I just found the interactions to be lacking a certain amount of emotion.

I guess it all came down to the disbelief in my mind that after so long Dana would open her heart to Vince once again. In the end I think the story needed to be longer in order to make a truly believable reunion story.
