Casee: I’m in a slump. Sure, I’m so busy I can barely see straight, but I have time to read and I’m just not doing it. I have mentioned numerous times that I have some amazing books to read and for some reason I’m just not picking them up. I’m bummed.

Holly: I had a great reading week. I’m finally out of my slump and reading for real again. I’m digging UF, PNR and Fantasy right now.

First up was The Leopard King by Ann Aguirre. It was a dark, angst-filled read. I really liked it, but I needed a break after I finished it. So I Married a Sorcerer by Kerrelyn Sparks was good. It was my first book by her. I plan to go back and check out her others. Gaslight Hades, a Steampunk novella by Grace Draven, was also dark and filled with angst. I’m really sad there aren’t more books available in the series. Born in Fire and Raised in Fire by K.F. Breene were both good. The series is pretty light – there’s a lot of humor and it borders on being campy – but I like it. I’m going to start Fused in Fire next.

I also re-read Down London Road, One King’s Way and Castle Hill by Samantha Young.

Rowena: I took the week off last week because I was in Vegas on my last family vacation and man did I not want to come home. Spending the day lazing by the pool, eating all of the food then laughing it up with my family was a good time. Now, I’m back and I’m reading Gentlemen Prefer Heiresses by Lorraine Heath. This week, I read Arm Candy by Jessica Lemmon and Links by Lisa Becker.

Casee: I am still refusing to say I’m in a slump. I have so many great books to read, I just don’t have time to read them. I read The Darkest Promise by Gena Showalter this week and it was wonderful. I had been looking forward to that book for a long time. I have Archangel’s Viper by Nalini Singh and Spellbinder by Thea Harrison to read. I just need to find the time to sit down and read. Good luck with that. Sigh.

Holly: After I finished Spellbinder by Thea Harrison, I was craving Arthurian romances. I asked for recommendations on Twitter and ended up starting Angela Knight’s Mageverse series. I read the first five full-length books and 3 novellas. I read Seductions Gift, Master of the Night, Galahad, Master of the Moon, Master of Wolves, Master of Swords, Master of Dragons and Vampire’s Ball. This wasn’t exactly what I had in mind when I asked for Arthurian recs. I wanted something that followed the legends more. The series is pretty cracktastic. The stories aren’t perfect, and I definitely enjoyed some more than others, but I read them all back-to-back, so that tells you something.

Next up I think I’m going to read The Leopard King by Ann Aguirre.

Rowena: sigh I didn’t read anything this week. Not one damn book. I started Love in the Friend Zone by Molly E. Lee but didn’t get very far into it because I’m just not in the mood for words. I watched a whole bunch of TV though. I need to get my reading life back. Wish me luck for this coming week.

Casee: Wow, July has been a busy month for me. First I was in Alaska. Last week I was camping, and next week we are visiting family. As you can imagine, I have had almost zero time to read. Which bums me out because if you read our June Monthly Reads post, you saw that I didn’t read one book in June. I wasn’t in a slump exactly, I just didn’t have time. Summer is crazy for us.

I am actually reading a book, if you can believe it. I’m reading The Darkest Promise by Gena Showalter. I love this series and have read it since the beginning. I really liked it when she was putting out two books a year. Alas, she’s down to one per year.

Holly: I can’t believe how quickly this summer is passing. My daughter goes back to school in just over two weeks. Crazy.

Things have been hectic (a theme for me lately) and I barely had time to think, much less read this week. I reread Storm’s Heart, Serpent’s Kiss and Oracle’s Moon by Thea Harrison. I didn’t intend to reread the entire series, but after a conversation with Tracy about Storm’s Heart and the new spin-off series, it looks like I’m headed in that direction.

Rowena: This week was pretty laid back for me, which has been fun since the last few months have been crazy busy. In a couple of weeks, my family will be descending upon Las Vegas for our final family vacation of the summer so I plan to get a lot of reading done before then.

This week, I read The Duchess Deal by Tessa Dare, which was freaking good. I thoroughly enjoyed that one and then I read The Imperfectly Perfect Match by Kendra C. Highley, which was fun. I also re-read Beyond the Highland Mist by Karen Marie Moning for book club this coming Monday. Now, I’m reading Love in the Friend Zone by Molly E. Lee. So far, so good.

Holly: I had a pretty lame reading week. I re-read a few books, but didn’t manage to get through anything new. I started several books, but nothing held my attention. Hopefully I can dig into a few books this weekend.

I reread White Hot and Wildfire by Ilona Andrews, Fairytale Come Alive and The Gamble by Kristen Ashley and Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison.

Rowena: Well, I did manage to finally get some reading done last night. I read and finished Ready to Run by Lauren Layne and I enjoyed it. I’ve been reading some so-so reviews on this book around the web and I think that’s why I took so long to read it. I mean, sure it’s not my favorite Lauren Layne book but it was still an enjoyable read. I really enjoyed Luke and Jordan and I’m mighty curious to meet this Gage guy in the next book. Woot!

Today I’m starting When It’s Real by Erin Watt. It’s a buddy read with Bookish Ames and it’s a book that I’ve been itching to read for myself. I really love this writing duo and I’m so looking forward to what they bring with When It’s Real. After that, I need to get my book club book read so I’ll jump into Beyond the Highland Mist by Karen Marie Moning.

Casee: Casee is having a blast in Alaska and we’re super jealous. She’ll be back next week to share what she’s been reading. 🙂

Holly: This has been a pretty lame reading week for me. I started several books, but none of them worked for me. I DNF’d The Darkest Corner by Liliana Hart, Wired by Julie Garwood and Wolf’s Mate by Celia Kaye. I plan to go back to The Darkest Corner at some point. I wasn’t into the story, but I think that had more to do with me than the book. Wired by JG just didn’t grab me. Wolf’s Mate was ridiculous. I wanted to like the story, but both main characters made such ridiculous choices I couldn’t keep going.

I finished All I Ever Wanted by LuAnn McLane. I’m still deciding how I feel about it.

Rowena: It’s been a slow reading week for me. I started Ready to Run by Lauren Layne and got one chapter in and haven’t picked up a book since. It’s a mood thing so I’m hoping that things will turn around next week. Wish me luck!
