What Are You Reading? (527)

Posted May 8, 2020 by Rowena in Features | 2 Comments

Holly: I read more books this week! Hooray! I finished Protect the Prince by Jennifer Estep, then read Crush the King, the next book in the series. I also read The Bridge Kingdom by Danielle Jensen, an Audible Escape book that came up in my recommended reads. I ended up really enjoying it. I got impatient with the audiobook so I downloaded the Kindle version and only listened when I couldn’t read. Fair warning, it ends in a cliffhanger and while the second book, The Traitor Queen, is available in audio, the ebook won’t be released until September. I also re-read a couple books.

I’m listening to The Traitor Queen by Danielle Jensen now. I’m not sure which book I’m going to read yet.

Rowena: Considering the kind of reading weeks I’ve been having lately, things are starting to turn around (fingers crossed). I read one book this week but I made a concentrated effort to get back into a reading schedule and it’s working! I finished Magic Shifts by Ilona Andrews last night and I have already started on Magic Stars. I’m ready for Derek to be front and center of a story, even if it’s a short one. I love me some Derek! I only read a couple of pages because I was tired but I’ll finish that one up today and then jump into Magic Binds and I can’t wait!

What Are You Reading? (526)

Casee: This hasn’t been a great reading week for me. I still have all the time, but I’m not reading all the books. I reading Golden Trail by Kristen Ashley. She’s like my comfort author. If I ever want to read a book that I know I’ll like, KA is where it’s at.

I’m listening to Say You’ll Stay by Corinne Michaels. This is my first book by her. I’ll report later on my thoughts.

Holly: I read books this week! New to me books! Oh happy day! I finished Sin and Spirit by K.F. Breene, then read Sin and Lightning. I’m bummed I have to wait until July for the next book. I really like the series. I also listened to Always Be My Banshee by Molly Harper. I didn’t love the male narrator, but the story itself was really good. Molly Harper’s books are a lot of fun.

I’m currently reading Protect the Prince by Jennifer Estep.

Rowena: Happy Friday, everyone! It’s been a good week for me because…I finally read finished a book. I finally finished Magic Steals and then I went on to read Magic Breaks. Oh man, there’s a lot going down in the Kate Daniels world for me right now and I’m thrilled with every single page that I’ve been reading. I’m so thrilled that I’ve already jumped into the next book, Magic Shifts. Happy reading, everyone!

What Are You Reading? (524)

Casee: Self-quarantine has boosted by reading time tremendously. I’ve read four Christine Feehan books. Her writing sure has changed over the last several years. I’m now reading The Sinner by J.R. Ward. I’m actually enjoying it, which is somewhat surprising.

I’m listening to Kiss the Stars by A.L. Jackson. I love this author and I love the narrators. I’m looking forward to getting further into it.

Holly: I reread Getting Schooled by Emma Chase this week, thanks in part to my Sunday Spotlight post. I also re-read Dragos Takes a Holiday by Thea Harrison and something else I can’t remember at the moment. I started Dragon Unleashed by Grace Draven, but I’ve only managed to read a couple pages. It seems I don’t have much brainpower for reading during this pandemic.

Rowena: So you would think that since I’m bored in the house, that I’m in the house bored, I’d be reading a whole lot of books. Well, you’d be wrong because I’m not reading a hot damn thing. I’m watching a whole lot of Korean dramas though. I watched Itaewon Class in two days, followed by two days of Crash Landing on You, and now I’m watching What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim. I have loved every single one of these shows and am already making a list of what I’ll be watching next. I’m hooked. So what am I reading? The subtitles on my Netflix screen and that’s it. Maybe next week I’ll pick up a book. Wish me luck and Happy Friday!

Rowena’s Monthly Recap: March 2020

The Monthly Recap posts are a way for me to take a look back and reflect on my previous month in books. From the books that I read, the books that I got, and the books that I need to read. I always lose track of what I have, what I need to read and I need these posts to keep me honest with myself because I be forgetting shit. What Are You Reading? (521)

Posted March 27, 2020 by Rowena in Features | 4 Comments

Casee: It’s self-quarantine Friday! I’m working hard trying to read, but I still have to do my actual job. I finished Wolf Rain by Nalini Singh and have started Alpha Night. I’m also still reading Lethal Game by Christine Feehan. I really need to finish that one up.

I’m listening to Gunmetal Magic by Ilona Andrews, but I haven’t been in the car much so my listening time has been limited. I am really enjoying Andrea and am looking forward to getting back to it.

Holly: I’m working remotely as much as possible right now. I thought I’d be reading a ton, but it turns out it’s actually more time consuming to work from home. Who knew? I reread Fairytale Come Alive and Complicated by Kristen Ashley, and Wildfire by Ilona Andrews (yes, again..don’t judge me). That’s it. I really want to read Dragon Unleashed by Grace Draven, so I think I’m going to reread Phoenix Unbound, the first book, as a refresher. Wish me luck? I feel like I need it.

Rowena: Happy Friday, everyone! I hope you’re all well and that you have toilet paper and water. With everything going on, not being able to leave the house and what not, you’d think that I would have read hella books but nope. I haven’t finished reading a damn thing this week. I’m watching movies and working from home. I’m also sending Ames and Holly funny memes and TikTok videos. But that’s it. I’ve started Love Hard by Nalini Singh but I’ve only read bits and pieces of it, in short spurts. My mind won’t slow down long enough to retain what I’m reading so I’m not even paying attention to what is going on. I hope this goes away because I want to read again. Wish me luck.

What are you reading this week? Any new favorites or books that drove you crazy? If you aren’t reading, what are you doing to stay sane during the quarantine? Share!
