Casee‘s review of Loves Me, Loves Me Knot (Chicks with Sticks, Book 2) by Heidi Betts.

Jenna Langan knows what she wants, and as she tells her best friends after their weekly knitting group, she doesn’t need a man to give it to her…only a few of his best swimmers. And just because her marriage to undercover vice cop Gage Marshall ended badly doesn’t mean he can’t still give her the baby she’s always wanted. In fact, she’s willing to bet a couple of her favorite hand-knit boas that she can tie him up in knots he’ll definitely enjoy…

An unexpected seduction is one thing, but stud service? No, thank you. Gage had his reasons for pulling the plug on his happily ever after with Jenna, and nothing that’s happened since their divorce has changed his mind. That is, until Jenna got it into her head to tie him up and drag him down. Now he has no choice but to stick around until he knows for sure if his ex-wife is pregnant. But the more time he spends with Jenna, the more his resolve begins to unravel…

I HATED THIS BOOK.

After Tangled Up in Love, I was really looking forward to this book. I’m a sucker for reunion stories. This was not a reunion book. It was more like a “I want to get pregnant and am going to rape you to get your sperm” book.

That’s right, Jenna rapes Gage. There’s nothing else to call it. She drugged him specifically so she could tie him up and have sex with him. For the sole purpose of getting her pregnant. She knew how Gage felt about kids; he doesn’t want them. It’s the reason they got divorced. Yet her and her friends concoct this plan for Jenna to get what she wants. And why not get it from Gage? She deserves it.

Can you see where I’m going with this?

I wanted to stop reading the book about 40 or so pages in. I skipped to the back and read the last few pages. Then I flipped through it. The only reason I went back and sort of skimmed it was b/c of what was setup for the next book.

There was nothing good about Gage and Jenna’s relationship. Sure, Gage was a total ass changing his mind about kids after they had already gotten married. If Jenna was a little more attentive, she would have associated it with Gage’s job. I suppose she can be excused b/c she was so heartbroken. But nothing excuses what she did to try to get pregnant.

I just couldn’t get past that part.

1 out of 5.

Review: Tangled Up in Love by Heidi Betts.

Rowena’s review of Tangled Up in You by Heidi Betts.

Hero: Dylan Stone
Heroine: Veronica “Ronnie” Chasen
Grade: 4 out of 5

ARE THEY FIT TO BE TIED?

Ever since Dylan Stone beat Veronica Chasen out of a prime position at the Cleveland Courier, they’ve been bitter rivals, engaging in a very public war of words in their competing newspaper columns. They routinely challenge each other to go bungee jumping, white water rafting, or into tattoo parlors to see who will wimp out first. But Veronica’s latest taunt may be Dylan’s toughest assignment yet: She dares him to learn to knit.

OR WILL DESIRE UNRAVEL THEM BOTH?

Dylan is not going to let something his grandmother can do scare him off. He’s man enough to make a scarf—and attend Veronica’s weekly knitting circle. But when the infuriatingly handsome Dylan shows up at the craft shop and charms all the ladies, Veronica starts to get all knotted up in something that feels a lot like love…

What a cute book this turned out to be! I’ve seen many reviews from people who have enjoyed this story and I’m glad that I enjoyed this book as much as everyone else did. I thought this book was too cute, too funny and sooo sexy. The sex scenes in this book steamed up the pages and were just flat out sexy. Heidi Betts should take a bow for writing such sexy scenes.

Ronnie Chasen and Dylan Stone hate each other’s guts. They both write for different newspapers and they’ve taken to trying to one up each other by challenging the other to different stunts trying to see who has the bigger balls. The latest challenge comes from Ronnie, who challenges Dylan to learn how to knit. At first, Dylan is pissed off because knitting? He has to learn how to knit and he only has a month to learn…what manly man would ever take something up like knitting?

But take it up, Dylan does and who knew that he would enjoy his little private knitting lessons so much? Especially since they were with the one person that he shouldn’t like at all since she’s a raving lunatic when it comes to him but he can’t seem to get her heartshaped ass out of his mind and how much he wants to take a bite out of it.

Watching these two go at it verbally and then watching these two light the sheets on fire was fun. I thought that they were well suited to each other when they weren’t being asses to each other and I really enjoyed watching them get along with each other and then actually talking to each other. I thought the chemistry between both Ronnie and Dylan was well done and I am seriously looking forward to reading the next book.

Dylan was a sexy hero. He wasn’t this richy rich uber smooth guy but totally normal. The kind of guy that you’d meet in your everyday life and I enjoyed that about him. Every guy that I know is crazy about sports, has a billion sports stats in their heads and it was so good to finally meet a hero who wasn’t an actual athlete but was crazy about sports all the same. This was my absolute favorite thing about Dylan. The way that he was such a normal guy, who thought and acted and did guy things. It was great getting to know him and I was totally soft for him, loved him and thought he was such a guy…I loved it!

Ronnie was a good heroine. She was one of those smart heroines that you could see yourself being friends with. She was that friend who was too stubborn for her own good and you wanted someone to come along and shake her up a little bit. She was a great match for Dylan and watching the sparks fly between them was great.

The other characters in the story didn’t do much to drive the story along but I enjoyed getting to know them and I look forward to more from them. When I first started reading the book, I thought that this book was the second book in the series because of Zack and Grace’s relationship but as far as I can tell, this book is the first in this series and now I’m wondering if Zack and Grace are going to get their own book. Curious minds want to know but I will definitely be reading Jenna and Gage’s story, I really liked Gage in this story so I’m already pining for that book. Bring it on!

This book was a great romp of a book, one that entertained me over the weekend and had me laughing, smiling and turning the pages. I wasn’t bored at all while reading this book and I don’t think anyone else will be either. It was a great way to spend a few hours and I’m glad I picked this book up. I definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a cute summer read for those trips to the beach where something light and funny would do.
