Christmas Gift Alerts: Coming Soon

Posted December 8, 2008 by Holly in News | 2 Comments

Last year we did a series of posts called Christmas Gift Alerts just before the Holidays highlighting various gifts we thought you’d enjoy – some for yourself, some for friends or family members. This year, we’re going to do the same thing. Beginning this week, be on the lookout for gift suggestions for the whole family.

If you see something you think would be a good gift, please don’t hesitate to mention it in the comments – or even better, email us at admin at thebookbinge dot com (no spaces) and we’ll do a post about it.

I also wanted to remind you about the Buy Books for the Holidays Campaign. It’s still going strong and we urge all of you to support the publishing industry by buying books for gifts this year.

Posted November 30, 2008 by Holly in Giveaways | 1 Comment

This weekend is your last chance to enter our Buy a Book, Win $100 contest. If you haven’t already picked up, you should grab it while you’re out this weekend. Come on, don’t you think a $7 book is worth the possibility of having $100 to spend on books? It just makes sense.

Proof of purchase needs to be emailed to contests@thebookbinge.com before midnight, Sunday, November 30th.

PS. We’ll be back to our regularly scheduled programming tomorrow. For now, we’re taking a break for the holiday (and possibly for shopping). =)

Update: Now it’s really your last chance! Don’t forget to enter!

Gosh Dangit, Buy a Book!

Posted November 20, 2008 by Rowena in Reviews | 12 Comments

I was reading a post over at The Page Flipper where she talks about another post on another blog that I am subscribed to that I thought was pretty damn terrific. Click here and read the post over at Editorial Ass.

I think she’s on to something.

We, here at Book Binge, get a lot of books for review so I haven’t been going to the bookstore as often as I used to, well until recently. I started going to the bookstore to buy reference books on writing. As I was standing in Borders the other day, I was swept up in how much I missed being in a bookstore. I used to go to the bookstore fairly often and some of my favorite memories were in my Barnes and Noble.

It’s where I met a really great guy years ago, it’s where I take all of my blogging friends that come out to visit me. It’s where I steal books from people’s stack of books if I can’t find another copy anywhere.

So many fun things happen in bookstores and I missed that so, this year for Christmas, everyone on my Christmas list is getting a book. Of all the industries out there, the book industry is going to get all of my money.

So we here at Book Binge urge each of you guys to go out and buy a book. Buy some books for you, buy some books for your friends, family, neighbors, your cousin that can’t cook to save her life, your boss, whoever…just be a pal and buy a book!

You’ll feel much better about yourself, I promise!
