Book Binge Turns 5 (+Giveaway)

Posted April 25, 2012 by Rowena in Giveaways, News | 68 Comments

Rowena: Book Binge turns 5 today.

Can you guys believe we’ve been running Book Binge for 5 years? It seems like just yesterday that you (Holly) talked me into starting this new bookish adventure with you. Come to think of it, you didn’t talk me into it. You forced me. Can’t say that I’m sorry though.

Holly: Forced? Ha. Well..ok, maybe I gently pushed you into starting something new, but I don’t remember you kicking and screaming along the way.

I remember the very first review we posted was a Loretta Chase review. Talk about starting off on the right foot. Remember that horrible template we had? Eep.

Rowena: I was probably scared for my life so in my book (H: Dramatic much?), that counts as the same thing. Has it really been five years since I read Lord of Scoundrels? Man, it seems like just yesterday.

What template could you be talking about? Are you talking about this one?

Holly: shudder

Rowena: Hey! I worked hard on that template….haha.

Casee: 5 years? How have you two done it? I came in a little later in the game. 2-3 years ago? At the time I was reviewing on my own blog because I’m so opinionated (H: coughUnderstatementcough) and I wanted to share my opinions with the world. My reviews have changed a bit (and are few and far between these days) though my opinions are just as loud.

Forget Lord of Scoundrels. I’m thinking of the Bet Me ambush by you two. Forget that I ended up liking the book. That was just evil.

Holly: You’re welcome for that, by the way. Too bad it didn’t work out as well when she shamed talked Lori into reading it.

Rowena: I’ve been pouring over past blog posts and even looking at our stats. Our stats are pretty boring. Check it out:

Our top posts of all time are:

Our readers sure do love their free eBooks, huh? Either we’re boring bloggers or our readers all totally normal people because our top keywords for search engines are:

  • The Book Binge
  • Book Binge
  • bookbinge
  • Happy Birthday
  • Nook vs Kindle review

While I was searching through our archives, I had a good laugh because remember these posts?

Most of the posts that had me cracking up were all written by Holly, go figure. =P

Holly: What are you trying to imply, exactly?

We went on an unofficial hiatus the last 6-9 months. Casee was having marital problems, Rowena lost her mom and I had a baby. We want to thank you for sticking with us as we slowed down and neglected the blog.

Rowena: It’s been a helluva 5 years, don’t you think? I mean, we’ve had loads of ups and heaps of downs but we’re still around. We’ve come a long way and I couldn’t be more proud of the blog that we put together. What better way to celebrate than by giving away books.

Come help us celebrate by leaving a comment on this post, letting us know where you’re from. We know we have readers from all over the world. Let’s do a roll call. Anyone who leaves a comment (even if it’s to say hi) will be entered to win some free books.

Which books?

These books:

  • The Duke is Mine by Eloisa James
  • A signed copy of Shady Lady  by Ann Aguirre
  • A signed copy of Unveiled by Courtney Milan

Contest ends April 30, 2012 @ 11:59pm. Please note: You must include a valid email address with your comment to be eligible.  Be sure to check back tomorrow and the rest of the week, as we’ll be doing more giveaways. We’re also gearing up to do a big Spring Fling giveaway throughout the month of May!

Upcoming Events: September, 2010

Posted August 31, 2010 by Holly in Giveaways, News | 8 Comments

This summer was a crazy one for us. Between kids, work and family obligations, we were run ragged. I never thought I’d be so happy to see school start back up again. Even though summer is over and school is back in session, we’re still running around like crazy. September looks to be just as busy as July and August.

We have a lot of big things planned this month for the site, too. We have a whole slew of guest authors lined up.

 9/2 Lila Munro
9/14 Erin McCarthy
9/16 Jennifer Estep
9/20 BethAnn Beuhler
9/29 Meet Me in Manhattan blog tour
9/30 Ava Bleu

We’re also planning another huge back-to-school giveaway. Starting tomorrow we’ll be giving away at least a book a day, with the possibility of up to 10 a day. We have some amazing swag to giveaway, too.

And now, we need your help. We took a hiatus from the Author Spotlight, but we’re ready to start it up again. Only, we have no idea who to spotlight. So we’re asking you! What author do you think we should spotlight in October?

Start throwing out some suggestions and we’ll make a list, then put up a poll with the most popular suggestions for everyone to vote on. Don’t forget to check out the authors (and publisher!) we’ve already spotlighted.

Be sure to come back tomorrow to check out the first in our massive giveaway and then on Thursday to visit with Lila Munro.

Mark Your Calendars, Guest Authors On the Horizon!

Posted February 26, 2009 by Rowena in News | 8 Comments

In the next couple of weeks, we’ll be having a whole lot of guest authors stopping by Book Binge to hang out so you won’t want to miss any of that author action.

Tomorrow, Julie James will be coming over to discuss her writing and her new book, Practice Makes Perfect here at Book Binge and she’ll be hanging out and giving away some free books so really, you’ll want to stop by and hang.

Casee mentioned that Nalini Singh will be visiting us on Monday so that’s definitely something you guys will be looking forward to because Nalini is wildly successful and such a delight to have our blog.

We’re also really excited that one of our all time favorite authors will be joining us here on Book Binge next week as well. That author goes by the name of SUSAN ELIZABETH PHILLIPS and she’ll be here next week talking about her new release, What I Did For Love so make sure to keep checking back on that score.

We also have Jenna Petersen on the horizon as well as Elizabeth Hoyt/Julia Harper and newcomer Tracy Wolff will be coming through as well so as you can see there is a lot to look forward to on Book Binge.

With guest authors here on Book Binge there will be plenty of chances for you to win some of your favorite books so this is our way of letting you know what you have to look forward to in the coming weeks so be here or miss out! =P
