Happy New Year from our Book Binge family to yours!
Casee: My reading continues to decline. I’m still Lucky Stars by Kristen Ashley. It is the fifth and apparently final book of the Ghost and Reincarnation series.
I still haven’t been listening to audiobooks either. Here’s to a hopeful 2021.
Holly: I continued reading holiday novellas the week of Christmas. I read The Christmas Bride by Anne Gracie, which was cute. I also read The Mistletoe Bride by Anne Gracie, which I enjoyed. The Earl of Christmas Past by Kerrigan Byrne was a fun read. I read two steampunk novellas by Melanie Karsak, Hauntings and Humbug and Goblins and Snowflakes. Both are classic retellings I really enjoyed. I tried reading Wolves and Daggers, the first book in the Red Riding Hood series by the same author, but I couldn’t get into it. I DNF’d it about halfway through. I read the first two stories in the Seduction on a Snowy Night anthology, featuring Madeline Hunter, Sabrina Jeffries and Mary Jo Putney. Both were pretty terrible.
Rowena: Happy New Year, everyone! I hope that everyone celebrated the start of a new year safely and that 2021 brings about everything we hoped 2020 would have.
I have decided that for 2021, I’m going to read at whatever pace that I read at. I’m not going to force myself to read things, just so that I’m reading something. I have reading goals and I want to meet them but I don’t want to kill myself to read stuff or stress myself out with ridiculous reading goals. I say all of this because my reading is super slow though I am reading. I read In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren last week and while I enjoyed it, I didn’t LOVE it. There were some pacing issues for me and the hero lowkey got on my nerves from time to time but overall, I liked it. I’m finishing up a re-read of Twisted Creek by Jodi Thomas. I read this a while ago and while I enjoyed it, I didn’t LOVE it like Holly and some other book friends did. That seems to still be the case for me now. I thought that I would like it more this time around but…nope. It’s still just okay.
I plan to start reading Training Camp by Wes King and Kobe Bryant next. It’s going to be my first read of the new year and I’m reading it with my friends so I’m looking forward to diving in.
