Monthly Reads: November 2020

Posted December 4, 2020 by Holly in Features, Giveaways | 5 Comments

It’s a new month so we’re back with a list of our Monthly Reads to share with each of you. This is where you’ll see what each of us has read and what our favorite books and our least favorite books of the month are. Check it out.

I’m a little late with my list for November, but better late than never. I had a horrible reading month. I read three books (one was a DNF). All Kristen Ashley.

Lady Luck (Colorado Mountain #3) by Kristen Ashley | 3.5 out of 5
Breath by Kristen Ashley (Colorado Mountain #4)| DNF
Fairytale Come Alive (Ghosts and Reincarnation #4) by Kristen Ashley | 4 out of 5

My favorite book of the month was Fairytale Come Alive. I was hesitant to read it at first because it’s not the first book in the series, but that wasn’t an issue here. My least favorite book was Breathe because the hero was a total ass. I wanted to junk punch him.

My reading was derailed by Kate Daniels this month. Once I started the series I had to finish it. Hopefully I’ll get more new-to-me book read in December.

Lord of Temptation (Lost Lords of Pembrook #2) by Lorraine Heath | 3.75 out of 5
Lord of Wicked Intentions (Lost Lords of Pembrook) by Lorraine Heath | 4 out of 5
Magic Burns (Kate Daniels #2) by Ilona Andrews (reread) | 3.75 out of 5
Magic Strikes (Kate Daniels #3) by Ilona Andrews (reread) | 4 out of 5
Magic Bleeds (Kate Daniels #4) by Ilona Andrews (reread) | 4.25 out of 5
Magic Slays (Kate Daniels #5) by Ilona Andrews (reread) | 4.25 out of 5
Magic Rises (Kate Daniels #6) by Ilona Andrews (reread) | 4.5 out of 5
Magic Breaks (Kate Daniels #7) by Ilona Andrews (reread) | 4.75 out of 5
Magic Shifts (Kate Daniels #8) by Ilona Andrews (reread) | 4.75 out of 5
Magic Binds (Kate Daniels #9) by Ilona Andrews (reread) | 4.5 out of 5
Magic Triumphs (Kate Daniels #10) by Ilona Andrews (reread) | 4 out of 5
Fairytale Come Alive by Kristen Ashley (reread) | 4 out of 5

My favorite new-to-me read of the month was Lord of Wicked Intentions by Lorraine Heath. It’s funny, because when I started the series the hero was my least favorite brother. But the story really worked for me. My least favorite read was Lord of Temptation, but that’s only by process of elimination, since I only read two new books. It was a good story, just not as good as the other one.

Wishing you happy reading in December!

A few favorites this month were Glass Tidings: A MM Holiday Romance by Amy Jo Cousins, Refuge (Tradepoint Saga Book 1) by JJ Blacklocke, and Lies and Lullabies by Sarina Bowen.

I don’t have any least favorites to mention, but I put aside unfinished quite a few books.

  2. Glenda M

As usual I don’t really have a one favorite book, but I have a lot of books I really enjoyed. I finished the Bridgertons – I’m one of the few people in the world who hadn’t already read the series – and then I started the Smythe-Smith quartet and will finishe the last book soon. I read Grace Burrowes’ latest The Truth About Dukes. I’ve also started my normal Christmas anthology binge after reading a few short Christmas books.

I read 16 books in November, my favorites being Serena Bell’s SO CLOSE and SO TRUE (which are the first two books in her Tierney Bay series—several more books are planned). I also enjoyed Megan Crane’s Viking-dystopian Edge series, my favorite being EDGE OF TEMPTATION. My least favorite book was Ruth Cardello’s IN THE HEIR. It wasn’t a bad book, but I thought it would be a different, angstier book about a woman in a fake relationship who falls for her fake fiancé’s brother. The fake relationship was over quickly and the rest of the book was a slow-burn between the hero & heroine. Not the story I was expecting.

The Monkey’s Raincoat by Robert Crais was interesting
worst book: Against the Magic by Donna K. Weaver
