What Are You Reading? (543)

Holly: I’m still listening to Lord of Temptation by Lorraine Heath, but I finished Polaris Rising and Aurora Blazing by Jessie Mihalik. I started Chaos Reining, the third book in the series. I hope to finish it this weekend. Next I plan to read In the Garden of Spite by Camilla Bruce, a novel about the Black Widow serial killer, perfect for Halloween.

What are you reading this week? Any new favorites or books that drove you crazy? Share!

    Since last week ~

    — reread Confluence (A Linesman Novel Book 3) by SK Dunstall which I enjoyed once again.
    — read some 140 pages of Blood of a Gladiator (Leonidas the Gladiator Mysteries Book 1) by Ashley Gardner; I have decided to put it aside. While I’ve enjoyed many other books by the author, this one is not speaking to me. Too bad!
    — reread the m/m contemporary romance Illumination by Rowan Speedwell
    — The Care and Feeding of Waspish Widows by Olivia Waite was an enjoyable historical romance; it’s the second in a series but stands alone well. I learned about beekeeping, English history of 1820, and the (negligible) rights of married women of the time.

I had to take an involuntary sabbatical from my electronic devices because we had no power for 36 hours due to Hurricane Zeta, so I grabbed some of my Harlequin Presents paperbacks and the best one I read was Maisey Yates’s CARIDES’S FORGOTTEN WIFE (from 2016), which was a beautifully-written and in some places utterly-gutting story about what happens to a mismatched couple when the husband has amnesia after a car accident.

I just finished Vangie Vale and the Strangled Strudel by R. L. Syme, I enjoyed it, a good cozy mystery.
