What Are You Reading? (513)

Casee: I haven’t been reading much this past week. I finished up At Peace by Kristen Ashley which I enjoyed. I can’t decide what to read next. I keep going from Release by Aly Martinez or Vendetta Road by Christine Feehan.

I’m listening to Dirty Love by Meghan March. Or I was listening to it. I haven’t been in the mood for audiobooks this week. I’m just off when it comes to reading.

Holly: I’m finally reading a book, y’all! Tracy turned me on to a new author. I’m listening to and reading Beauty and the Clockwork Beast by Nancy Campbell Allen. It’s a Steampunk-lite, Gothic novel and I’m loving it. I plan to continue on with this series.

Rowena: Hey guys, Happy Friday! I didn’t get a whole bunch of books read this week but I’m still reading every single day and I’ll take that as a win. I finished up The Witness by Nora Roberts, which I really enjoyed. I really liked the heroine, Abigail Lowery and thought that the hero, Brooks Gleason was an excellent match for her. It’s going to make for an interesting book discussion at book club on Monday and I’m looking forward to it. After that, I read Getting Schooled by Christina C. Jones and that was a short but fun read that I really enjoyed. I need to read more black romances.

Right now, I’m finishing The Kissing Game by Marie Harte and I’m going to be honest, I’m not enjoying it as much as I thought I would. I don’t have much left to read but I’m not all that hopeful that things are going to make a drastic turn so I’m struggling with trying to decide if I should even bother reading it or not. The author’s writing style just isn’t for me. Hmm.

My next read is going to be The Worst Best Man by Mia Sosa and I hope I like that one. Fingers crossed.

My favorite book this week was Molly O’Keefe’s WEDDING AT THE RIVERVIEW INN, a second-chance romance between a professional chef and her ex-husband who hires her to run the kitchen of his latest venture—the Riverview Inn. Very angsty, emotional, and melancholy (tw/cw: miscarriages and fertility issues). I loved it.

    Since last time ~

    — The Last Painting of Sara de Vos by Dominic Smith which I read for my book group. I quite liked this book as did everyone in the group.
    — another reread of The Goblin Emperor by Katherine Addison. I enjoyed it once again.

  3. I just finished two YA novels, Tweet Cute by Emma Lord and Echoes between Us by Katie McGarry. Both very good. I picked up Ilona Andrews novella that just came out called Sweep With Me. I love themand can’t imagine this novel will break their awesome streak. Lol. I also listened to Faith Hunter’s Junkyard Cat. I really liked it! Kind of a sci-fi fantasy. Busy reading week for me!
