What Are You Reading? (511)

Casee: This has been a strong reading week for me. I finished four books. For You by Kristen Ashley, Wife by Penelope Sky, The Fall of Legend by Meghan March, and You Were There Too by Colleen Oakley. I think I’m going to start At Peace by Kristen Ashley today, which is the second book in her ‘Burg series. I’m hoping it’s a faster read than For You.

I’m going to start listening to House of Scarlett by Meghan Meghan March today. Her books are easy and quick listens, which I really like.

Rowena: It’s been a strong reading week for me. Stronger than I’ve had in months, tbh. I read three books this week and have already started my fourth. I finished 2019 out with a read of The Kingmaker by Kennedy Ryan, and that book was such a great read even with the messed up ending. It was a lot more political than I like my romances but Kennedy Ryan is such a great writer that I was still invested in the story, the romance, and hell, even the political stuff. It was just a damn good romance. After that, my first read of the year was Grumpy Jake by Melissa Blue and that was another fun read for me. I need to read more of Melissa Blue’s books because I enjoyed this short but fun romance. I just finished reading Grand Theft N.Y.E. by Katrina Jackson and that was another fun romance. I didn’t know that criminal con artists were my thing but Kat Jackson did her thing with Robert and Cleo’s book. It was another short but fun read and I need to read more of her books too.

I need to jump back into my review pile so right now, I’m reading The One for You by Roni Loren and so far, it’s pretty good. I’ll let you guys know next week how that story turns out for me.

What are you reading this week? Any new favorites or books that drove you crazy? Share!

I’m almost finished reading If I Never Met You by Mhairi McFarlane. I love it, it’s a great book. I’m going to look into other books by this author. She had me laughing out loud.

    • Ooh, I have this book on my review pile. I’m glad to see that you’re enjoying it, Rita. Now I can’t wait to dig into my copy.

I just finished Caitlin Crews’s latest Harlequin Presents, SECRETS OF HIS FORBIDDEN CINDERELLA. I liked it very much. I’m now reading Jackie Ashenden’s latest from Dare, DIRTY DEVIL.

Over the last two weeks, I read ~

    — the graphic work A Fire Story by Brian Fies. It makes me feel fortunate that I have not suffered a devasting loss.
    — the novella Get Lit by Kim Fielding which has a Hanukkah focus.
    — Sapphire Flames: A Hidden Legacy Novel by Ilona Andrews. I think that this book would be difficult to understand if you have not read the authors’ earlier books in the series. While I enjoyed the book, it definitely leaves me feeling that the story is not complete. I’ll read on, but I doubt this is a series I’ll reread.

    — The Bromance Book Club by Lyssa Kay Adams which was an entertaining contemporary romance.
    — The Last Run by J. Scott Coatsworth which was a short science fiction story with a hint of romance. It was a pleasant story but not something I’ll likely reread.
    — The Lady’s Guide to Celestial Mechanics by Olivia Waite which I quite enjoyed. It’s a regency era romance with two heroines.
