What Are You Reading? (+ Nicole McLaughlin Giveaway)

WAYR-New

Casee: I am just finishing up Evidence of Desire by Lexi Blake. It is the second book in the Courting Justice series. I am finding it highly enjoyable. It is much better that Order of Protection, which is the first book. The hero is actually bearable. I’m also really enjoying the heroine. She seems like a bit of a pushover, but she actually has a spine of steel. It’s an interesting contrast.

I’m also listening to Dirty English by Ilsa Madden-Mills. This is my first book by this author. I am really, really loving the male narrator’s English accent. I keep going back and forth on whether I like this book or not. One chapter I will really be liking it, then the heroine will do something really stupid and I’ll actually say out-loud, “What the hell are you doing?!”. This is all while I’m at work, which is a little awkward. So the jury is still out on this one.

Holly: I didn’t read anything this past week. My daughter and I both caught the flu, so it was a lot of sleeping and watching movies. I’m currently listening to Highland Guard by Hannah Howell, which I’m enjoying. The narrator does the accents well and the story is good, if predictable. I’m reading Gimme Some Sugar by Molly Harper, the upcoming Southern Eclectic release. This series is a lot of fun and I’m really loving Duffy’s story.

I’m not sure what I’m going to read next. I need to get a list organized.

Rowena: I jump started my 2019 with a quick read of 99 Percent Mine by Sally Thorne and while I enjoyed it, I enjoyed The Hating Game more. After that, I started on Governess Gone Rogue by Laura Lee Guhrke but between my binge re-watch of Game of Thrones and then finishing up my binge of Hart of Dixie, it’s been a little slow going for me. I’m enjoying what I’m reading so far so I’m hopeful that it’ll keep up throughout the rest of the story.

After this, I plan on reading Holiday Hoops by Kennedy Ryan for my TBR Challenge book and then I’ll jump into my book club read Blood Kiss by J.R. Ward.

It’s the reason she now considers herself equal parts self-sufficient and free-spirit. But since losing her job and trying to help her mother beat cancer, real life―and her occasional careless choices―have begun to catch up with her. Her one saving grace: The Stag, a boutique distillery that has become Kansas City’s go-to wedding venue. The only catch: One of the owners, TJ Laughlin, happens to be the one man who somehow manages to make Jen feel inadequate.

TJ has secretly had a thing for Jen since high school. Now, as her new boss, it’s a daily struggle between revealing his feelings and wringing her beautiful neck. Only one thing is for certain: he can’t stand idly by and watch the woman he cares for struggle. She may be convinced that accepting TJ’s help is a weakness. But all he sees in Jen is beauty and strength, inside and out. As things finally heat up between them, can TJ find a way to convince Jen that love is about give and take―and having it all, together?

I must hate myself. I’ve got 2 long as heck different Christmas Anthologies that I’m trying to finish since I hate not finishing books, but some of the stories are horrible.
