WAYR-New

Casee: I just finished Alpha and Omega, which is the prequel to Cry Wolf by Patricia Briggs. I started Cry Wolf last night and am really enjoying it so far. These are two of the books Holly picked for me in the Summer Reading Challenge. I’ve been really lucky with most of the books Holly and Rowena picked for me so I almost feel bad that Holly hated disliked Raphael by D.B. Reynolds. (H: You should feel bad for the JRW book. Shudder)

Holly: I did a lot of re-reading this week. I didn’t have a lot of dedicated reading time and I prefer re-reads when I know I own’t be able to focus. I re-read Play it Safe, Complicated, The Time in Between and Wild Man by Kristen Ashley and The Hook Up by Kristen Callihan. The only new-to-me book I read this week was The Chase by Elle Kennedy. I didn’t love it as much as I thought I would, but it was really good to get back to Briar U.

I’m currently listening to When a Scot Ties the Knot by Tessa Dare. I fell behind in my Tessa Dare reading during my historical hiatus. I’m excited I have so many of her books to look forward to.

Rowena: This week, I finished up Midnight Rainbow by Linda Howard and really enjoyed that one even though it’s hella dated and then I read The Other Side of Lost by Jessi Kirby and enjoyed that one too. The Other Side of Lost made me cry but boy did it also make me take stock of my life and how I’m living. It was a great coming of age novel by Jessi Kirby and I’m super glad that I read it.

Now, I’m reading Down with Love by Kate Meader and I’m not far into it but I’m looking forward to getting it read so that I can keep chugging along on my review pile. I’m so behind and I’m scrambling to keep up. Wish me luck!

I’m rather envious, Casee, that you’re reading the Alpha and Omega books for the first time. I’ve read and re-read those books numerous times.

    Recent reads here ~

    — Personal Geographies: Explorations in Mixed-Media Mapmaking by Jill K. Berry was an enjoyable read. I have a long time affection for maps so this hit the spot.

    — Machine Metal Magic (Mind + Machine Book 1) by Hanna Dare was an enjoyable science fiction male/male romance that I will likely re-read. I look forward to reading more in the series.

    — Saving Askara: A Sci-fi Romance by J.M. Link was an enjoyable science fiction alien romance that (unfortunately) ended with a cliffhanger.

    — The Spinster and Mr. Glover (Blind Cupid Series Book 1) by Karyn Gerrard was a short historical novella. I don’t expect to re-read this. It’s currently free for Kindle readers.

    — I just finished Salt Magic Skin Magic by Lee Welch which I quite enjoyed; it is a historical paranormal fantasy romance which had some twists that I did not foresee. I suspect this is a book I’ll be re-reading.

    — Becoming Alpha (Alpha Girl Book 1) by Aileen Erin which I’d describe as a young adult paranormal story. I enjoyed it, but it’s the first of eight (so far) books and I’m not sure whether I’ll continue.

    — Max Hudson’s contemporary romance Forget Me Not which dealt with the aftereffects of a brain injury/amnesia that caused a relationship to fail.

    — re-read, with pleasure, Lyn Gala’s alien romance Claimings, Tails, and Other Alien Artifacts along with the author’s Prelude to the same.

I’ve done some re-reading this week too. I re-read Kristen Ashley’s Golden Trail and At Peace, and Eloisa James’ Three Weeks with Lady X. New books include Linda Howard’s The Woman Left Behind and KA’s Mystery Man. I just got My Oxford Year and plan to read it this weekend.

Casee, I adore the Alpha and Omega series and The Mercy Thompson books by Patricia Briggs. I pick them up and re-read all the time. I’m jealous of anyone who reads them for the first time because you’ve got so much good reading coming your way!
