WAYR-New

Casee: I am reading Covert Game by Christine Feehan. I love the GhostWalker series. It is so intense. I didn’t give up on Storm Gathering by Rebecca Zanetii, but I did put it aside. As much as I dislike doing that I think that it was the best move for me. I immediately got into Covert Game so I think it was the right choice.

Holly: I’m not reading anything right now. I’m in a weird reading funk, plus I’ve been suffering from almost constant migraines. I ended up DNFing Ocean Light. Not because of the book, but because I couldn’t focus on it. I listened to Complicated by Kristen Ashley on audio and finished Bayou Moon by Ilona Andrews, but that’s it. Hopefully this weekend I’ll be able to focus more.

Rowena: The week started and I was still in a slight book hangover from Wildfire by Ilona Andrews. I was sad that I was done with all of the books in this series (I’m crossing my fingers that we’ll get more eventually) and wasn’t ready to move on. By Tuesday, I buckled down and made myself move on.

I finished Hello Stranger by Lisa Kleypas and really enjoyed it. Holy cow, Ethan Ransom is all that and then some. I really enjoyed both him and then Garrett. They were great together and I was super happy with their story. After that, I jumped back into a new Ilona Andrews world with On the Edge. That was another fantastic book by Andrews and I’m super excited to continue. After On the Edge, I read On Hart’s Boardwalk by Samantha Young and that was another short but sweet peek into life after 10 years of marriage between a hero and heroine from previous books. Nate still got it, baby! 🙂

Now, I’m diving back into Ilona Andrews backlist by starting Bayou Moon. I haven’t gotten very far in the book but it’s already good. If you’ll excuse me, I’m going to get back to it. Have a great weekend, everyone!

I’ve had a hard time reading this week. I did manage to finish A Brush with Shadows the latest Lady Darby mystery by Anna Lee Huber which was another good installment in the series. I’m working on Why Kill the Innocent, the latest Sebastian St. Cyr mystery by C. S. Harris, but I’m having a hard time concentrating. I have been doing a lot of audio listening and managed to finish three Sarina Bowen books that way, Hard Hitter, Pipe Dreams, and Keepsake which were all good.

    Some recent reads here ~

    — Robin D. Owen’s Heart Sight (A Celta Novel). This is the fifteenth book in this fantasy series, and I believe I’ve read them all. It was an enjoyable book but it’s probably not a story I’ll rush to re-read.
    — The Woman Left Behind: A Novel by Linda Howard. While I enjoyed the book, I don’t think this is a book I’ll be re-reading as I didn’t really feel a connection with the characters.
    — re-read Making Faces by Amy Harmon which I enjoyed once more even though it did have me crying. Are you familiar with the idiom “stealing the show”? In Making Faces, it’s a character who is neither the hero nor the heroine that steals the show. I think I read for him as much as for the leads.
    — Burn Bright (Alpha and Omega) by Patricia Briggs. The storyline was fairly complex, and I could wish there had been more time spent on the relationship between the two leads; however, I enjoyed it nonetheless. And, yes, I was surprised at the identity of the traitor.
    — dipped into Rethinking School: How to Take Charge of Your Child’s Education by Susan Wise Bauer. I enjoyed what I read; I’d recommend this book to parents with school age and younger children.
    — enjoyed Josh Lanyon’s male/male contemporary mystery The Mermaid Murders (The Art of Murder Book 1) and would happily read more in the series.
    — Ice Blue (Lord and Lady Hetheridge Mystery Series Book 1) by Emma Jameson; this book is currently free to Kindle readers.
    — I then went on to read the third book in the series (since I don’t own book two) which I also enjoyed. I’ll need to backtrack and read book two when I can get a copy since I missed out on a lot of relationship building between the two lead characters.
Something Blue (Lord and Lady Hetheridge Mystery Series Book 3) by Emma Jameson
