WAYR-New

Casee: I was not looking forward to this week’s post because telling you that I’ve been reading the same thing for six weeks is worse than telling you that I haven’t been reading at all. Last night, I finally finished Year One by Nora Roberts. I won’t say too much about it, but look for my review soon. It’s been a long time coming. I’m going to start Judgement Road by Christine Feehan next and hope it doesn’t take another six weeks.

Holly: I had a pretty busy week without a lot of reading time. I listened to The Gamble by Kristen Ashley on audio, as well as The Secret by Julie Garwood. The only book I managed to read this week was Beyond Scandal and Desire by Lorraine Heath for my joint review with Rowena. This was my first book by Heath. I really enjoyed it. I’ll definitely be reading more in the future. Now I’m reading Whiskey Sharp: Jagged by Lauren Dane.

Rowena: It’s been a good reading week for me. I started the week off finishing The Truth about Love and Dukes by Laura Lee Guhrke for my book club meeting and while I enjoyed the book, it wasn’t a favorite. The stuffiness of the hero, in the beginning, was such a turnoff but I was glad that I finished the book because he got way better and the heroine was a straight boss. It was good but that’s it. After that, I read Breaking the Ice by Julie Cross and you guys, that book was freaking good. I thought Cross did a splendid job on writing Fletch and Haley’s complicated romance. I can’t wait for the next one.

After that, I read Love Between Enemies by Molly E. Lee and that didn’t go over well. I couldn’t stand the female protagonist and ugh. Just ugh. You’ll see why when my review is posted. Now I’m reading The Trouble with True Love by Laura Lee Guhrke because I heard it’s better than the first one and I’m mighty curious about Irene’s sister, Lady Clara. I’m hopeful that it’ll be good.

Enter New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh’s breathtakingly passionate Guild Hunter world with the story of a woman who isn’t a vampire or an angel…or human…

Once a broken girl known as Sorrow, Holly Chang now prowls the shadowy gray underground of the city for the angels. But it’s not her winged allies who make her a wanted woman—it’s the unknown power coursing through her veins. Brutalized by an insane archangel, she was left with the bloodlust of a vampire, the ability to mesmerize her prey, and a poisonous bite.

Now, someone has put a bounty on her head…

Venom is one of the Seven, Archangel Raphael’s private guard, and he’s as infuriating as he is seductive. A centuries-old vampire, his fangs dispense a poison deadlier than Holly’s. But even if Venom can protect Holly from those hunting her, he might not be able to save himself—because the strange, violent power inside Holly is awakening…

No one is safe.

After seriously binging on books while I was sick the last couple weeks, I can’t find anything I really want to read. Waaaaahhh! I think I read the first few pages of at least 5 books and just kept putting them down in disinterest. I did read Last Look by Mariah Stewart and it was ok but I thought it was a romance and it was really a police procedural with some romantic elements. OK but not that satisfying.

Someone please give me some book recs because I’m feeling lost.

I always enjoy seeing what you all are reading. I’ll post my books on a future post; too busy now,

I’m currently reading Just One Damned Thing After Another by Jodi Taylor. It’s good, but I’ve had a crappy few days so I’m not in a reading mindset and it’s taking forever. Before this I read The Duchess Deal by Tessa Dare which I adored. It was just what I needed. I also read Roomies by Christina Lauren which was a let down. It was okay, I loved the heroine, but never felt enough of a connection between her and the hero for it to completely work for me. I wish that the hero’s POV had been included. I have a feeling that may have solved my problem with it. I also read The Charmer by Avery Flynn that had a cute Henry Higgins/Eliza Doolittle story that was well-done.

I also just read The Duchess Deal. As always, Tessa Dare never disappoints me. I also tore through Bountiful by Sarina Bowen which I won here. Thank you so much! It was wonderful. I absolutely loved the hero, Dave – just a genuinely nice guy who is now my newest book crush. Sarina writes such great heroes.
