WAYR-New

Casee: I have finally, finally gotten into Year One by Nora Roberts. I’m only about a quarter of the way through it, but I can say with 99% certainty that it is a paranormal dystopian. It’s so different from anything I’ve read from NR before. I like it. Even a quarter of the way through there is still some world building going on so it’s a little slow. I’m not worried yet. Hopefully I’ll finish it this weekend. Fingers crossed.

Holly: My reading has been pretty lame this week. I did a couple skim-throughs for review purposes, but that’s about it. I did start A Promise of Fire by Amanda Bouchet yesterday. I’m only a few pages in, but I’ve heard great things about the series.

Rowena: It’s a new year with new books to read. I read Man Candy by Jessica Lemmon this week and really enjoyed both Dax and Becca. I thought their story was sweet and super cute so I definitely recommend it. I wrote my review for that book already so you should be seeing that on the blog soon.

Right now, I’m reading Beyond Scandal and Desire by Lorraine Heath and so far, I’m really enjoying it so I’m hopeful that it will continue to be fabulous. After this one, I’m going to jump into About that Kiss by Jill Shalvis, a book that I’m looking forward to.

I started off 2018 with a book for the new reading challenge I’m doing, Magpie Murders by Anthony Horowitz. It was a throwback to old-school English mysteries which I enjoyed quite a bit. Then I read The Hot Shot by Kristen Callahan which I adored followed by From This Day Forward, the novella that kicked off Lauren Layne’s Wedding Belles series. Now I’m reading another for my challenge, Meddling Kids by Edgar Cantero. As someone who loved Scooby Doo, Nancy Drew, the Bobbsy Twins, and similar mystery books/shows, I’m loving this so far.

I just completed A Harmless Game by Meli Raine and it was good but GRRRRRR the ending made me mad. It was a cliffhanger! I’ll have to find a way to read the remainder of the series.
In the New Year I finished Pure Healing by Aja James. Boy, do I recommend that one! Tortured Hero, hot scenes, paranormal. Oh so yummy and good. . (Two thumbs up)

A friend shared her cold on New Year’s Eve so I was sick all week and not much in the mood for reading. However, I did finish Whisper of Shadows, the third book in an awesome UF series (with a very strong romance) by Diana Pharaoh Francis and Burn For You by J.T. Geissinger. The hero in that one was one of my favorite types – lots of grumpy, growly attitude on the surface but with a sweet, soft, mushy center.
