What Are You Reading? (406)

WAYR-New

Casee: I am on a road trip at this very moment. For some reason my husband never lets me drive. That works for me because me not driving = me reading! I have Year One to read which is the new Nora Roberts book. I’ve been waiting for it since I first saw it on Amazon at the beginning of the summer. The blurb is amazing. Hopefully I’ll be able to get through a big chunk of the book.

Holly: This week I read a bunch of new-to-me short stories from Kristen Ashley I discovered while browsing Goodreads. Merry and Bright, More Pleasure Than Pain, Valentinos, Every Year and Law Man Short Story. I was especially excited about Merry and Bright because it tells the story of how Elvira met Malik. I re-read Moon Craving by Lucy Monroe. Chantal from Breezing Through and I reviewed it together several years ago. I asked if she’d be willing to read it with me to see if we still feel the same about it all these years later. Look for that discussion soon. I also re-read The Return of Eden McCall by Judith Duncan, a book I re-read every year. It’s dated, but I adore it.

This week I’m determined to read some new books and not just re-read old stuff. Wish me luck?

Rowena: Lots of stuff was going on for me this week so I didn’t get nearly as much reading done as I would have liked. Oh well. That’s my life, for ya. I finished Love, Life and the List by Kasie West and started North to You by Tif Marcelo. I’m almost done with that book and then after this, I plan on picking up Complicated by Kristen Ashley and An English Bride in Scotland by Lynsay Sands. I need to get those books read in the next week for book club and buddy reviews. Wish me luck!

What are you reading this week? Any new favorites or books that drove you crazy? Share!

Good luck, Holly; and happy reading to you all.

    Some recent reads here ~

    — Artemis: A Novel by Andy Weir; I did enjoy it though I prefer The Martian. I will likely reread it at some point. Also, my husband read the book during Thanksgiving; he liked it, too. Some random thoughts: The author created an interesting setting; The book had a number of strong women characters though most of them are not the most moral; It had two father/daughter pairs but no mothers; It had the obligatory gay friend; It made me laugh from time to time.
    — Let It Snow (Minnesota Christmas Book 1) by Heidi Cullinan which was an enjoyable male/male romance.
    — Frat Boy and Toppy by Anne Tenino which is another male/male romance. I’d seen this title on a lot of lists so my expectations were high. It was a pleasant read but not likely a book I’ll reread.
    — I quite enjoyed Libby Drew’s 40 Souls to Keep which was a contemporary mystery/paranormal romance featuring two men. I’d previously read and enjoyed another book by this author, and I’d happily read more.
    — reread Laura Spinella’s Foretold (A Ghost Gifts Novel Book 2)

  2. Casee, I hope you enjoy Year One. I know it’s hard to read when on a trip. Oh I love Kristen Ashley. I haven’t read most of her novellas. I hope you enjoyed them. KA never disappoints, Holly. Rowena, I have Complaicated. I read 25% (loving it) but then got distracted by other book. Need to get back to the story ASAP. I hope you enjoy it.

Happy reading and have a wonderful week. ❤️
