What Are You Reading? (400)

WAYR-New

Casee: I might still be reading Hello Again by Brenda Novak, but I’m still reading. It’s a damn Christmas miracle at my house. We’re doing a bunch of remodeling so I don’t have a ton of time to read, but I’m taking what I can get. I’m glad that I’m actually interested in a book. I really enjoy Evelyn and how her mind works. Readers of romantic suspense will really enjoy this series.

Holly: I spent the week reading the Rock Chick series by Kristen Ashley. I skipped the majority of the series after finishing book 1 years ago, because a little bit of the Rock Chicks goes a long way. I was in the mood for KA, however, so I figured I’d finally dive into them. First I re-read Rock Chick Revolution. I wasn’t able to get through the book the first time I tried, but I managed it this time. The romance was good, but KA inserting herself into the story was crazycakes. Then I read Rock Chick Rescue, Rock Chick Revenge, Rock Chick Redemption and Rock Chick Renegade. I also listened to Good Boy by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy on audio. I read the book for the first time recently, but I hadn’t listened to the audio. It was really good. The chapters alternate between the hero and heroine, and the narrators alternated between a man and a woman in conjunction. It was great.

Rowena: I haven’t gotten any reading done this week. Well, I read some but not nearly as much as I thought I would. I only read A Duke in Shining Armor by Loretta Chase. That was an enjoyable read and I’m looking forward to what’s next for those characters. Loretta Chase is a great historical romance and I’m a huge fan.

I blame all of my non-reading this week to the Los Angeles Dodgers….because WE’RE GOING TO THE WORLD SERIES!! WE’RE GOING TO THE WORLD SERIES (Holly the Cubs fan: UGH!!!)!! I’ve been too into watching my Dodgers battle the reigning champs for the NLCS pennant and last night, we got it. It feels great! This team man…they’re the bomb.

I’ll be reading An Ex for Christmas by Lauren Layne today. I’m looking forward to it!

What are you reading this week? Any new favorites or books that drove you crazy? Share!

I read all of the Rock Chick books some years ago, but I have little desire to reread them. Other Kristen Ashley books I’ve reread a number of times. I tried her latest series, but it did nothing for me. Interesting how some books by an author resonate and others do not.

    Some recent reads here ~

    — These are all alien romances by author M.K. Eidem and were pleasant reads (despite their shortcomings in the grammar arena). Grim (a re-read), A Grim Holiday (Tornians Book 1.5), Wray (Tornians Book 2), Ynyr (Tornians Book 3), and Oryon (Tornians Book 3.5).
    — For my book group, I read Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout. This was a collection of stories all of which (perhaps save one) featured to some extent the title character. It was a fairly quick read that won the Pulitzer Prize; I found it rather morose.
    — the fantasy romance The Undying King by Grace Draven which I enjoyed; it had something of a fairytale vibe.

    • Are you referring to the Honey Club series? I didn’t even attempt to read those. They didn’t seem like my cuppa.

I have that Grace Draven book TBR. I think I’ll bump it up.

Hello there, Holly. Yes, I was referring to the Honey Club series. I tried a sample, but it didn’t speak to me. Grace Draven’s Radiance is still my favorite of her books, but The Undying King was well worth a read.
