Monthly Reads: July 2017

MR-New

Casee: This summer has been pathetic for me. I didn’t read one book in June and I only read one book in July. I’m hoping August will be better, but I don’t have high hopes. It’s only going to get better when my kids go back to school at the end of August. No more vacations, no more kids bothering me.

Here is my one book in July:

  1. The Darkest Promise by Gena Showalter | 3.5 out of 5

Holly: July started out pretty sad for me, but it really picked up toward the end of the month thanks to Angela Knight’s Mageverse series. I read 22 books.

  1. Seductions Gift by Angela Knight | 3/5
  2. Master of the Night by Angela Knight | 3.25/5
  3. Galahad by Angela Knight | 3/5
  4. Master of the Moon by Angela Knight | 4/5
  5. Master of Wolves by Angela Knight | 3.25/5
  6. Moon Dance by Angela Knight | 3/5
  7. Master of Swords by Angela Knight | 3.25/5
  8. Master of Dragons by Angela Knight | 4/5
  9. Vampire’s Ball by Angela Knight | 3/5
  10. Down London Road by Samantha Young (re-read) | 4.5/5
  11. Castle Hill by Samantha Young (re-read) | 4/5
  12. Wired by Julie Garwood | DNF
  13. Wolf’s Mate by Celia Kaye | DNF
  14. All I Ever Wanted by Luanne McLane | 2.75/5
  15. White Hot by Ilona Andrews (re-read) | 4.5/5
  16. Wildfire by Ilona Andrews (re-read) | 4.25/5
  17. Fairytale Come Alive by Kristen Ashley (re-read) | 4/5
  18. The Gamble by Kristen Ashley (re-read) | 3.75/5
  19. Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison (re-read) | 4.5/5
  20. Storm’s Heart by Thea Harrison (re-read) | 3.75/5
  21. Serpent’s Kiss by Thea Harrison (re-read) | 4/5
  22. Oracle’s Moon by Thea Harrison (re-read) | 4.5/5

My favorite read was Master of Dragons. I was intrigued about Kel from the beginning and his book didn’t disappoint. My least favorite read was Wolf’s Mate. I couldn’t even finish it.

Rowena: July was a sad reading month for me. I had so much free time and I didn’t read anything. Nothing was calling my name and the books that I picked up, I put right back down. I hope that I’m not slipping into a reading slump but my July numbers were ugly.

Here’s what I read:

  1. Ready to Run by Lauren Layne | 3.5 out of 5
  2. When It’s Real by Erin Watt | 4.25 out of 5
  3. The Duchess Deal by Tessa Dare | 4.5 out of 5
  4. The Perfectly Imperfect Match by Kendra C. Highley | 3.25 out of 5

My favorite read of the month goes to The Duchess Deal by Tessa Dare because duh…it’s a Tessa Dare and I adore all of her stuff. This book was no different.

My least favorite book goes to The Perfectly Imperfect Match by Kendra C. Highley. I enjoyed the book as a whole but the beginning dragged and the characters acted really young (like younger than their actual ages), at least that was how it read to me.

This month we’re giving away:

The Duchess Deal by Tessa Dare
The Darkest Promise by Gena Showalter
Master of Dragons by Angela Knight

If you want to be entered to win, leave a comment on this post telling us what your favorite – and least favorite – reads of the month were. My favorite read of the month was White Hot by Ilona Andrews. My least favorite was Fer-de-lance by Rex Stout. I read this for a reading challenge I’m doing and it was okay, but slow.

I’d love to win The Duchess Deal! Thanks for the chance!

  2. Christine

I’m eyeing the Duchess Deal. I hope to get it to continue my good streak of reading this month. My favorites were Bring the Heat by Shelly Laurenston (ARC) and Mr. Fixer Upper by Lucy Score (an unexpected KU find), but I had a temporary blip with Julie Garwood’s Wired (I really miss her historicals).

Favorite so far is “the trouble with dukes” by grace burrowes. I have just started Same beach next year by dorothea benton frank and so far am not impressed, sorry to say! AM looking foward to the Duchess deal, she’s a favorite author,.

  4. lsureader

My favorite book of the month was The Ultimatum by Karen Robards. Looks like a great start to a new series she’s writing. My least favorite was Dangerous Minds by Janet Evanovich. I stopped the Stephanie Plum books years ago. I guess I’m finished reading her. Too predictable. If I win, I’d like Tessa Dare’s newest. Thanks.

I’d be delighted to read the new Tessa Dare book.

I’ll cast my favorite vote for Ilona Andrew’s newest book. I don’t have a least liked book to report; I think that any books I’ve put aside have been due to my mood rather than the books’ quality.

I’m really looking forward to reading Tessa Dare’s new book and Gena Showalter’s latest LOTU is on my wish list too. My favorite read of the month is The Trouble With Mistletoe, Jill Shalvis is one of my go-to authors and never fails to disappoint. I love Willa and Keane together and can’t wait to see their movie in December! My least favorite was It Takes A Scandal by Caroline Linden. It wasn’t a horrible book by any means, I just wasn’t that into it out of the books I read in the month.
