What Are You Reading? (326)

WAYR-New

Casee: April has been a slow reading month for me, unfortunately. I’m hoping it will pick up. I’m reading The Chosen by J.R. Ward. I’m about halfway through. It’s pretty good, but it’s not grabbing me. Usually I can’t put these books down once I pick them up. This one has it’s usual slew of secondary characters. It is a good book, but I just can’t seem to sit down and take the time to finish it.

Holly: I started reading the Arcadia Bell series by Jenn Bennett this week. Kindling the Moon is the first book. I really struggled to get into it. The heroine acted really young and I had a hard time connecting with her. I immediately started the second book Summoning the Night thinking she’d be better in the second book, but I DNF’d it before the 4th chapter. I just couldn’t with the heroine. I started Ruthless by Lexi Blake, which both Casee and Rowena recommended, but I’m not really into it. I’m not really feeling contemporary romance right now, so I plan to come back to it later.

Rowena: It’s been a slow reading week for me. I DNF’d Charmed Thirds by Meg Cafferty because I just wasn’t in the mood for it and then I started Corrupted by Penelope Douglas, a book that has gotten such high praise from pretty much every book blogger that I follow, who has read it and let’s just say…it wasn’t for me. I tried to stick it out but ended up putting it down for good when it was bringing my reading jam down. I started Dreaming of You by Lisa Kleypas last night and so far, that book has kept my attention so I’m glad that this re-read seems to be doing the trick. After this book, I plan to jump into Moon Called by Patricia Briggs. Wish me luck!

What are you reading this week? Any new favorites or books that drove you crazy? Share!

I had zero reading time. Nada. Zilch. Too much homework. Boooooooo! But I have Lexi Blake in my TBR pile. Maybe I’ll get to it on summer break. Sigh.

I’ve been super busy with a new job so I haven’t had much time to read. I did manage to finish The Girl Who Knew Too Much by Amanda Quick which I enjoyed. It’s a mystery with a little bit of romance set in the Hollywood area in the 1930s. I also read Luck Be a Lady by Meredith Duran which was great.

Right now I’m reading A Lady’s Code of Misconduct by Meredith Duran. I have to finish it today since it’s due back tomorrow. So far, I’m enjoying it. After that I have the latest Kelly Bowen lined up since it’s due back to the library soon as well.

    As for me ~

    — re-read Michelle Diener’s Dark Horse, my favorite of the Class 5 trilogy; Dark Deeds; and
    Dark Minds.
    — Tiffany Snow’s Follow Me (Corrupted Hearts) which is the first in a romantic suspense series. I enjoyed the book, but one does need to suspend disbelief fairly often. The main character is a young highly intelligent woman who is both nerdy and quirky.
    — Winter’s Fallen (The Conquest of Kelemir Book 1) by A. F. Dery. This book is currently free to Kindle readers. This was pleasant, but I don’t think I’ll be re-reading it any time soon.
    — re-read Patricia Briggs’ Fire Touched (A Mercy Thompson Novel) which I enjoyed once more.
    — a rather uninspiring regency romance A Taste For Love by Donna Bell. This is not a book I’ll be re-reading.
