WAYR-New

Casee: I finished Shadow Reaper by Christine Feehan yesterday. It was so-so. I was a little disappointed. I’m getting reading to start Revenge by Lexi Blake which I’m super excited about! I love the Lawless brothers. After that I will probably dive back into Blake’s Masters and Mercenaries series.

I also finished Elle Kennedy’s Outlaws series. I love Dystopian romance. It’s so raw. I’m always on the lookout for new authors in that genre.

Holly: I re-read some Lisa Kleypas and Julie Garwood favorites this week. I didn’t have a lot of reading time, so I didn’t start any new books. I hope to start Shadow Reaper this weekend.

Rowena: I started off the week, finishing the Ravenels series by Lisa Kleypas. I read Devil in Spring and really enjoyed that one. It was my favorite book of the bunch. After that, I jumped into a re-read of Love in the Afternoon by Lisa Kleypas and boy did I love that re-read. Christopher and Beatrix are a fabulous couple! Then yesterday at work, I finished How the Duke was Won by Lenora Bell and thought it was solid read. I enjoyed it so much that I jumped right into the next one, If I Only Had a Duke. I’m not that far into this one but so far, it’s pretty good. I hope that continues.

What are you reading this week? Any new favorites or books that drove you crazy? Share!

I actually had a great (for me) reading week since I have no homework. Yay! I read The Unyielding by Shelly Laurenston and Madly by Ruthie Knox, both of which I was super excited about and both of which mostly (but not entirely) lived up to my high expectations. But that wasn’t all! I also read Till Death by Jennifer Armentrout which was good but not amazing. Then I read Driven by Eve Kenin, a book about an ice trucker heroine. I was very entertained but the book itself didn’t blow me away. And finally I caught up on another of Sarah Morgan’s backlist in Blackmailed by Diamonds, Bound by Marriage, but this was was kind of mediocre and not living up to her newer books. Oh, and I almost forgot this morning I read a Harlequin Nocture book called Otherworld Protector–I’ve hardly read any of those but thought I’d explore them a little. It’s the start of a new series, and it was just kind of meh.

I had a pretty slow reading week. I gave up on A Sure Thing by Marie Harte. Both the hero and heroine were getting on my nerves and I just couldn’t quite get into it. Then I read The Viscount and the Vixen by Lorraine Heath which I really enjoyed. Then I read Into the Fire by Jeaniene Frost which was decent, but nowhere near my favorites by her. Currently I’m reading Cream of the Crop by Alice Clayton which is good so far, but it’s slow-going (my fault, not the book’s). After that I can finally get to Devil in Spring (it was put off because the Frost and Clayton books are library ones due soon).

    Recently read here ~

    — Can’t Help Falling: A Novel by Kara Isaac: I recently read a different book by this author, Close to You, which had a Lord of the Rings connection; this book has a Narnia connection. Both books have some inspirational content, but I would say that this book has more. It was an enjoyable read, but I don’t think I’ll necessarily re-read it.
    — Silver Scars by Posy Roberts: This was a romance featuring two men both of whom had suffered life changing injuries. I enjoyed it.
    — The Sacrifice and Other Stories by Kim Fielding: a collection of short stories and novellas by a favorite author. I enjoyed some of the stories more than others; however, I think my preference is for the author’s longer works. I’m likely to re-read some of these at a later date.
    — for my book group, Rebecca Skloot’s The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. I’m happy to have read the book, and I recommend it.
    — Patricia Briggs’ Silence Fallen (A Mercy Thompson Novel) which I enjoyed (even if I didn’t identify the Dr. Who character). The story was complex, and I’ll likely re-read this at some point when I re-read the entire series. I still prefer the Alpha and Omega stories, because they focus on Charles and Anna instead of having a large cast of characters.
    — re-read Mary Balogh’s historical romance Only a Promise.
    — Think of England by K J Charles: a historical (early 1900s) male/male romance that I enjoyed and which I suspect I’ll be rereading.
