Casee: I’ve been glomming Elle Kennedy’s Killer Instincts series. I am loving this series. I’m currently on book five, Midnight Captive. I’m only a chapter or so in, but it promises to be as good as the last few. My favorite book has been Midnight Games. I’m going to have a lot of reading time over the next few days and I can’t wait!
Holly: I had a pretty good reading week. I read Pipe Dreams by Sarina Bowen. It’s the best of the series so far, I think. I really loved Lauren and Mike. Red Wolf by Jennifer Ashley was good. Not my favorite book of the series, but still good. I re-read The Will by Kristen Ashley and Match Me If You Can by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. I tried to read Ice Wolf by Jane Godman, but I couldn’t get into it. I think this is a case of me and not the book. I’m going to go back to it at some point in the near future.
Rowena: I had a pretty strong reading week and I’m so glad because I haven’t been in the mood to pick up any books the last couple of weeks. So far, all of the books I read were solid reads. I read Archangels Kiss by Nalini Singh, Havoc by Jamie Shaw, Off the Ice by Julie Cross, When the Marquess Falls by Lorraine Heath and now I’m reading Isn’t She Lovely by Lauren Layne.
All of the books that I read this week were good but my favorite of the bunch is definitely Isn’t She Lovely by Lauren Layne. This book has me cracking up and sighing all over the damn place and I love that on Lauren Layne’s Pinterest profile, she’s got a board for each of her books that shows her inspiration behind the characters, certain aspects of the book and all of that because I can totally see Stephanie Kendrick as…Anna Kendrick and Chace Crawford is the perfect Ethan Price. Stephanie and Ethan have big time chemistry and I love their witty banter. Gah, Lauren Layne is my favorite. After this, I’m jumping right into Broken by Lauren Layne because it’s the next book in Layne’s Redemption series and I’m anxious for it.

Recent reads here include ~
— the historical romance Wanted, A Gentleman by KJ Charles. This was set in London in 1805 and was fairly unique in that it featured a free Black man (an ex-slave) as one of its heroes; the other main lead was the owner of a matrimonial wants ads publication. I enjoyed it and will almost certainly re-read it.
— Unwrapping Her Perfect Match: A London Legends Christmas Romance by Kat Latham. I enjoyed this, but I don’t think I’ll be re-reading it.
— Indelible by Adelia Saunders which I found to be an excellent read; this is not a romance more literary fiction.
— Someone to Hold (A Westcott Novel) by Mary Balogh. This is a new release, and I enjoyed it. It’s not my favorite of the author’s books, but I’ll probably re-read it at some point.
— I also re-read with pleasure Not Quite a Husband by Sherry Thomas.
— a time travel romance which I enjoyed ~ Traveler by Elaine Fox
— and the truly poignant book The Tin Box by Kim Fielding which features a male/male romance in the present and letters from a man imprisoned in an insane asylum in the 1930s for his sexual orientation.
Not Quite a Husband is tied for my favorite historical of all time with A Devil in Winter by Lisa Kleypas. I just adore it. In fact, I may have to re-read it soon!
Of all the books you mentioned in your list, I want to read the Kat Latham book the most. I love rugby so I need to hurry up and just jump into that series already.

Rowena, I actually bought Isn’t She Lovely on sale very cheap and then it sat on my kindle forever. I was dreading reading it because of the age of the characters. I ended up loving it when I finally read it a few weeks ago. I guess I just have to trust Layne more!
I had a great reading week. I read Madly by Ruthie Knox which I loved. Then I read Pretty Face by Lucy Parker, which I enjoyed a lot, although I preferred Act Like It slightly. I also read Artistic License by Elle Pierson aka Lucy Parker which was good although I enjoyed both of the books written under the Parker pen name more. I finally got around to reading Suddenly One Summer by Julie James (you know your tbr is out of control when you let a Julie James book go more than a year unread). I enjoyed it, although it’s not on the top of my favorite James’s books. Right now I’m halfway through an arc of The Thing About Love also by James. I’m loving it so far.
OMG Celine, I thought the very same thing after I read Isn’t She Lovely. How funny. Yeah, I need to trust Layne more, myself. I don’t know why since I love her stuff.
I’m the opposite where I loved Pretty Face more than Act Like It but both books are fabulous reads. I just got Artistic License this week so I’m looking forward to reading it soon. I adored Suddenly One Summer but like you, it’s not one of my favorites. I really loved The Thing about Love so I hope you enjoy it too! 🙂
