WAYR-New

Casee: This has been a really good reading week for me. I read and reread Silver Silence by Nalini Singh. It was good the first time, but it was great the second time.

I just finished A Cold Dark Place by Toni Anderson which is free on Amazon right now. It was pretty good. It is the first book in her Cold Justice series. Now I’m reading Midnight Rescue by Elle Kennedy. Rowena turned me onto the series awhile ago, but I’m just now starting it. It’s really good so far.

Holly:This week I read Silver Silence by Nalini Singh and Silence Fallen by Patricia Briggs. I’m about halfway through Devil in Spring by Lisa Kleypas. All three are pretty spectacular.

Rowena:This week was a slow reading week for me. I didn’t read much except Silver Silence because, well, it’s Silver freaking Silence by Nalini Singh. Of course, I read that shit. That’s the only book that I read and I really liked it. I’m so excited to see where that spin off series goes from here. I’m also curious to see who the next couple will be and Bo! OMG, Bo!!!

Anyway, now I’m reading Archangel’s Kiss by Nalini Singh for my buddy review with Holly. So far, I’m enjoying it but I’m not that far into it. Wish me luck on getting it read before the month ends. 🙂

What are you reading this week? Any new favorites or books that drove you crazy? Share!

I’ve been making an effort to read some of the older (or at least anything older than a few years) paranormal and romantic suspense that I kind of missed by joining romance later in life. So this week I read some of Jayne Ann Krentz’s Arcane Society stuff. I don’t really like the Amanda Quick historicals though so I’m skipping over them, ha.

I ended up abandoning Archangel’s Heart because I just wasn’t in the mood for reading and my lending period on the e-book was up. I’ll check it out again as soon as I free up a slot (I had another book waiting for me when Archangel’s Heart was due). I did manage to read Accidentally on Purpose by Jill Shalvis which I enjoyed. Right now I’m about two-thirds of the way through The Burning Page, the third book in the Invisible Library series, by Genevieve Page.

Up next I’m going to read an arc of Madly by Ruthie Knox then I have Devil in Spring and Pretty Face waiting to be read.

    Some recent reads here ~

    — Once Upon A Dream by Mary Balogh and Grace Burrowes: a collection of two historical romance novellas. I enjoyed the Mary Balogh story a bit more as some of the characters have appeared in other of her books.
    — I also finished and very much enjoyed Scrap Metal by Harper Fox which is a contemporary romance featuring two men. This is a book I’ll likely re-read.
    — I began three young adult books recently all of which I’ve put aside after reading about 100 pages or so. I may give them a try some other time as all seemed intriguing but just weren’t right for me now. Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton, Iceling by Sasha Stephenson, and
Not Your Sidekick by C.B. Lee
    — the historical romance The Virgin and the Viscount: The Bachelor Lords of London by Charis Michaels. It was an enjoyable read but likely not a book I’ll re-read; there were a few too many coincidences for my taste.
    — re-read Strong Signal (Cyberlove Book 1) by Megan Erickson and Santino Hassell
    — The Queen of Blood: Book One of The Queens of Renthia by Sarah Beth Durst: really enjoyed it. I look forward to reading on in what I think will be a five book series.
    — enjoyed the male/male romance Whiteout (Seasons of Love Book 1) by Elyse Springer. I wasn’t quite sure where the story was going which was a pleasant change. Plus there was a Rent (a favorite musical) connection.
    — the historical romance Lady Claire Is All That by Maya Rodale. It was a pleasant read but not a book I expect to re-read. It was rather anachronistic.
    — the historical romance Duke of Pleasure (Maiden Lane) by Elizabeth Hoyt which I enjoyed. This is the twelfth book in the Maiden Lane series, but it stands alone pretty well. The setting is London in the 1740s.
    — currently in the midst of a re-read of The Soldier’s Scoundrel by Cat Sebastian

  4. Yay for Silver Silence and so very envious. I am pretty excited to see how she handles it and I have no doubt that it will be AMAZING!!

Casee—I do love it when you find those free reads that are so dang good and I think I am going to go grab that one. I do want to try out Midnight Rescue.

Holly-Hope you are loving Devil in Spring, I had a blast with that book and Kleypas wrote it perfect. And so fun seeing Sebastian and Evie again.

Rowena- I just love love LOVE everything that Singh writes. And she does seem to cross to different genres so flawlessly.

I finished Midnight Rescue…it was really good. I’m reading Midnight Alias now and it’s even better!

I picked up The Truth About Cads and Dukes by Elisa Braden due to a sale, and I loved it. The heroine was plain, plump, and bookish and the hero was one of those duty-bound head of the family types who initially doesn’t like her, but then is forced to marry her to save her from a scandal that his brother created. The only problem with it was the insta-lust/love on the part of the duke, which came out of nowhere, but since that’s pretty common in romance, it doesn’t usually bother me.

I also enjoyed The Hooker and the Hermit by Penny Reid and LH Cosway and I did a reread of Truly by Ruthie Knox. I’m so looking forward to reading Madly.
