MR-New

Casee: January was good to me reading wise. Whenever I looked outside and saw all the horrible snow, I picked up a book to get my mind off of it. I’m glomming Lexi Blake right now and am loving her.

  1. Bound Together by Christine Feehan | 4.25 out of 5
  2. Blood Vow by J.R. Ward | 4 out of 5
  3. Island of Glass by Nora Roberts | 4 out of 5
  4. Innocent in Death by J.D. Robb (reread) | 4.75 out of 5
  5. Moonshadow by Thea Harrison | 4.25 out of 5
  6. Naked in Death by J.D. Robb (reread) | 4.25 out of 5
  7. Power Game by Christine Feehan | 4 out of 5
  8. Satisfaction by Lexi Blake | 4.5 out of 5
  9. Love and Let Die by Lexi Blake | 4.25 out of 5
  10. Dominance Never Dies by Lexi Blake | 4.25 out of 5

My absolute favorite of this month was Satisfaction by Lexi Blake. I loved Bran. Loved him. Loved, loved, loved him. I thought Drew was it for me with the Lawless series, but I am pretty sure that it’s Bran. If you haven’t read this series, you should. Revenge and romance. Check. Then of course I had to go back and read about all the Taggarts. I’m also really enjoying rereading the In Death series, even if I’m doing it out of order.

Holly: I had a pretty blase reading month. A lot of re-reads and not-so-stellar books.

  1. Malsum Pass by Kimberly Forrest | DNF
  2. Bluebird Winter by Linda Howard (reread) | 2.75/5
  3. Mystery Man by Kristen Ashley (reread) | 3.5/5
  4. Wild Man by Kristen Ashley (reread) | 3/5
  5. Law Man by Kristen Ashley (reread) | 2.5/5
  6. Fairytale Come Alive by Kristen Ashley (reread) | 3.5/5
  7. The Gamble by Kristen Ashley (reread) | 3.25/5
  8. Stolen Magic by Marina Finlayson | 3.25/5
  9. Murdered Gods by Marina Finlayson | 3/5
  10. The Winter Over by Matthew Iden | 3.25/5
  11. Fire Touched by Patricia Briggs (reread) | 4.75/5
  12. Ride Steady by Kristen Ashley (reread) | 4/5
  13. Dead Heat by Patricia Briggs (reread) | 4.5/5
  14. Heart of Fire by Linda Howard (reread) | 5/5

My favorite new read of the month was probably Stolen Magic by Marina Finlayson. I enjoyed the premise and the world. I didn’t enjoy that it ended on a cliffhanger. My least favorite new read was probably Murdered Gods. It felt very short and ended on another cliffhanger (yes, I’m still whinging about that).

Rowena: January was a great reading month for me. I started the year off right and went ham with my reading. I read a lot of great books:

  1. Small Admissions by Amy Poeppel | 4 out of 5
  2. Solo by Jill Mansell | 1 out of 5
  3. Hard Hitter by Sarina Bowen | 4 out of 5
  4. Winning the Wallflower by Eloisa James | 4 out of 5
  5. Satisfaction by Lexi Blake | 4 out of 5
  6. Nine Rules to Break when Romancing a Rake by Sarah MacLean (re-read) | 4.5 out of 5
  7. Sustained by Emma Chase (re-read) | 5 out of 5
  8. Sidebarred by Emma Chase (re-read) | 5 out of 5
  9. Accidentally on Purpose by Jill Shalvis | 3 out of 5
  10. Seven Minutes in Heaven by Eloisa James | 4 out of 5
  11. Fury on Fire by Sophie Jordan | 3 out of 5
  12. By Your Side by Kasie West | 3 out of 5
  13. #famous by Jilly Gagnon | 3 out of 5
  14. Hollywood Dirty by Alessandra Torre | 4.25 out of 5
  15. Coming Up for Air by Miranda Kenneally | 4 out of 5
  16. Holding Up the Universe by Jennifer Niven | 4 out of 5
  17. The Bastard Billionaire by Jessica Lemmon | 4 out of 5

My favorite read of the month goes to Hollywood Dirt by Alessandra Torre and Hard Hitter by Sarina Bowen. Both books were fun reads that kept me entertained from beginning to end. Some honorable mentions to Winning the Wallflower by Eloisa James and Coming Up for Air by Miranda Kenneally.

My least favorite read of the month probably goes to #famous by Jilly Gagnon and Fury on Fire by Sophie Jordan. Famous by Jilly Gagnon was a bit young for me and Fury on Fire wasn’t bad but it wasn’t my favorite either.

This month we’re giving away:

Hollywood Dirt by Alessandra Torre
Satisfaction by Lexi Blake
Any book from Holly’s List (since I didn’t have a true favorite this month)

  1. Christine

I finally got around to reading The Sun is Also A Star and loved it! Tied for least favorite – The Dare and the Doctor (Kate Noble) and Release (Jade Chandler). Hoping to win Satisfaction as I’m a big Lexi Blake fan

  2. Kareni

A big favorite this month was Sarina Bowen’s Hard Hitter. I didn’t finish Amanda Bouchet’s Breath of Fire (The Kingmaker Chronicles Book 2) — I may have lost my momentum in the time since I read the first book. I’ll likely give it another try at a later date.

If I win the giveaway, I’d happily take Stolen Magic by Marina Finlayson (from Holly’s list), Hollywood Dirt by Alessandra Torre, or Satisfaction by Lexi Blake — they all sound good.

I actually had a really good reading month in January. I really couldn’t pick a favorite. I loved all of the books in Lauren Layne’s Wedding Belles series (minus the prequel novella that I haven’t bought yet) and her Someone Like You. I also really enjoyed Sweep in Peace by Ilona Andrews, I’ve Got My Duke to Keep Me Warm by Kelly Bowen, The Rule Book by Jennifer Blackwood, and Downed by Jen Frederick.

My least favorite was Just Kiss Me by Rachel Gibson. It was pretty meh. I never really connected with either the hero or heroine and didn’t really buy the romance.

I would love to win Heart of Fire from Holly’s list or Satisfaction. Thanks for the chance!

I was on a France kick in January. My two favorite books were The Little Paris Bookshop by Nina George and Once Upon a Rose by Laura Florand. I’m now dying to visit Provence LOL. My least favorite was Missed Connections by Tamara Mataya. The heroine was whiny and spoiled. I made it about halfway through before I gave up. I would love to win Fire Touched from Holly’s list.

  5. John Smith

I am currently reading “Coinman” by Pawan Mishra, which is an exceptionally witty book with an exacting, perfect use of language.

  6. Aishi

My favorite read this month was Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon. This book wasn’t even on my radar, but I of course had to give it a try once the trailer for the film adaptation came out! Absolutely loved it and cannot wait for the movie 🙂
