MR-New

Casee: I read one, you read that right, one book. Which is better than November when I read none books. That’s right. None books. I’m praying that 2017 goes much better than the end of 2016.

  1. Justice Ascending by Rebecca Zanetti | 4.5

It was my favorite book of the month.

Holly: December seemed to fly by and drag on at the same time. My reading time was limited, so I did a lot of re-reading (again).  Last month I binge-read Ilona Andrews, so it seemed fitting to binge on Patricia Briggs this month.

  1. Alpha and Omega by Patricia Briggs (re-read) | 4.5 out of 5
  2. Cry Wolf by Patricia Briggs (re-read) | 4 out of 5
  3. Hunting Ground by Patricia Briggs (re-read) | 4 out of 5
  4. Fair Game by Patricia Briggs (re-read) | 4.25 out of 5
  5. Moon Called by Patricia Briggs (re-read_) | 4 out of 5
  6. Blood Bound by Patricia Briggs (re-read) | 4 out of 5
  7. Iron Kissed by Patricia Briggs (re-read) | 4.5 out of 5
  8. Bone Crossed by Patrica Briggs (re-read) | 3.5 out of 5
  9. Silver Bourne by Patricia Briggs (re-read) | 3.75 out of 5
  10. River Marked by Patricia Briggs (re-read) | 3 out of 5
  11. The Thing About Love by Julie James | 4 out of 5
  12. One Fell Sweep by Ilona Andrews (re-read) (sort of) | 4.25 out of 5
  13. Bound Together by Christine Feehan | 4 out of 5
  14. Sweet Dreams by Kristen Ashley (re-read) | 4 out of 5

My favorite read of the month was probably One Fell Sweep by Ilona Andrews. It was sort of a re-read, because I read it as it was being written (they released it as a weekly serial), but the full-length release this month included additional material, so I’m counting it as new. I adore this world. I suggest everyone read the series. Honorable mention goes to The Thing About Love by Julie James. She always writes such smart romances.

I didn’t really have a least favorite read of the month. If I had to choose, it would be River Marked by Briggs. I liked the book, but it was slower than a lot of the others in the series.

Rowena: I didn’t get a lot of reading done in the entire month of December. I was busy with basketball, the holidays and covering for people out at work. I did get some reading in, just not as much as I hoped. In the new year, I’m going to read when I feel like it and not be too hard on myself when I don’t read as much as I thought I would.

Here’s what I read in December:

  1. Bad Boy by Elliot Wake | 2.75 out of 5
  2. This is Our Song (Shaughnessy Brothers #4) by Samantha Chase | 4 out of 5
  3. That Thing about Love (FBI/US Attorneys #7) by Julie James | 4.5 out of 5
  4. Delicious (Marsdens #1) by Sherry Thomas | 3.75 out of 5
  5. Rules of Contact (Play by Play #12) by Jaci Burton | 4 out of 5
  6. The Hero (Sons of Texas #1) by Donna Grant | 2 out of 5
  7. Off the Rails by Jill Sorenson | 3 out of 5
  8. The Fixer (Games People Play #1) by Helenkay Dimon | 4 out of 5

My favorite read of the month goes to The Thing about Love by Julie James because that was a damn good book. Julie James continues to shine and I adore her stuff. My least favorite read of the month goes to The Hero by Donna Grant. It was just meh for me.

This month we’re giving away:

One Fell Sweep by Ilona Andrews
The Thing about Love by Julie James

  1. Jane

Favorite reads of the month include HelenKay Dimon’s The Fixer and Sarina Bowen’s Hard Hitter. Least favorite was Penelope Douglas’ Punk 57. Would love to win Julie James’ The Thing About Love.

  2. CelineB

I had a lot of great reads in December. My two favorites were probably Miracle on 5th Avenue by Sarah Morgan and One Hot December by Tiffany Reisz. I also really enjoyed Fate’s Edge by Ilona Andrews.

My least favorite was probably Holiday with a Twist by Shannon Stacey. It was okay but I have high expectations when it comes to holiday novellas by Stacey and this one didn’t live up to them.

I would love to win either the new Julie James or the Ilona Andrews book. Thanks for the chance!

  3. Wendy Fraser

I read 15 books in December! My least favourite was a middle grade book: Marvel Iron Man: The Gauntlet by Eoin Colfer (even though Iron man is one of my favourite Marvel heroes). My favourite read of the month was a re-read of Born of night by Sherrilyn Kenyon.

I have One fell sweep as an ebook, but I would love the opportunity to win any of these 3. (Highly anticipating reading Justice Ascending)

  4. JenM

My favorite book in December was Moonshadow by Thea Harrison. I loved pretty much everything about this spinoff of her Elder Races series. My least favorite was Luck Is No Lady, a Regency by Amy Sandas. It wasn’t a bad book, but it just didn’t ever engage my interest and I ended up skimming parts of it.

I would love to win The Thing About Love or One Fell Sweep.

  5. December was kind of a crap reading month for me… The closest thing to a favorite was “A Will and A Way” by Nora Roberts, which was a pleasant enough category from her backlist. The rest couldn’t even be singled out as the least favorite. Just a lot of “meh”

I would love to win One Fell Sweep (or The Thing About Love).

  6. Ada

My favorite read was Chasing Lady Amelia by Maya Rodale – just love the Cavendish family. Maya Rodale really writes great characters. My least favorite was Christmas Brides, an anthology with Alexandra Hawkins, Elizabeth Essex, Valerie Bowman and Suzanne Enoch. I think it’s because novellas are so short and there’s so little time to really get to know the characters and the storylines but it left me wanting more.

I would love to win Julie James – The Thing About Love

  7. Kareni

I’d love to read that new Julie James book!

Favorites in December include the new Thea Harrison book as well as Mariana Zapata’s new book. No memorable least favorites to report.

  8. Anita H.

My favorite read was Sweet Little Lies by Jill Shalvis. I love this series, I can’t wait to catch up on the rest of the books. My least favorite was probably Seducing the Best Man by Sasha Summers.

I would be thrilled to win Julie James’ The Thing About Love
