What Are You Reading? (298)

WAYR-New

Casee: I’ve been on a Rebecca Zanetti craze. I’m reading her Sin Brothers series. Holly got me to read Forgotten Sins by telling me how much she disliked it. I didn’t love it, but I loved the brothers. That’s what got me to buy the next three books in the series. I just finished Forgotten Sins and am reading Sweet Revenge. Then I have to start the Killer Instinct series by Elle Kennedy. This is basically exactly what I was doing last week. Glomming Rebecca Zanetti with Elle Kennedy waiting in the wings.

Rowena: This week, I read The Trouble with Mistletoe by Jill Shalvis which was a cute read. I also read Just One Week by Alice Gaines which I didn’t like at all. The hero and the heroine were immature and try as I might, I just couldn’t connect with the characters or the storyline at all so that was a bust. I also finished Do You Want to Start a Scandal by Tessa Dare, which was another wonderfully written historical romance with humor and a charming heroine that completely won me over.

I started Bedmates by Nichole Chase this morning and so far, so good. I hope it keeps my interest. We’ll see.

What are you reading this week? Any new favorites or books that drove you crazy? Share!

Oh no, I’m so sad you aren’t loving the Sin Brothers series yet! I adore that series. I hated the first brother so much though. I almost didn’t even bother reading book 2, but I was really intrigued by the larger story line and just had to read on. I thought they each got progressively better, until book 4 with Jory who I love love love loooove. I keep meaning to start her Scorpius Syndrome series but I just haven’t gotten around to it. Dystopian books really aren’t my thing, but I do enjoy Zanetti so I am willing to trust her.

Books I read and enjoyed this past week include:

    — All the Time in the World: A Novel by Caroline Angell. I very much enjoyed this book even though it did make me cry; I recommend it.
    — How Not to Fall (The Belhaven Series) by Emily Foster; fun but it’s part one of two.
    — What Remains by Garrett Leigh. In this story, Jodi awakens from a coma after being hit by a car and does not remember anything from the past five years including his entire relationship with Rupert.
    — Rival Forces: A K-9 Rescue Novel by D. D. Ayres; it’s a romantic suspense novel.
    — Sacked (A Gridiron Novel) by Jen Frederick; it’s a new adult novel.
    — The Bird and the Sword by Amy Harmon. This is a fantasy which has something of a fairy tale feel. This book has some violence, but otherwise it would be suitable for all readers. I’ve read several contemporary books by this author, but this is the first I’ve read by her in this genre.
    — the historical romance: Marrying Winterborne by Lisa Kleypas.
    — Silence Is Goldfish by Annabel Pitcher; I read about a third of it (plus the end) before putting it aside. It was an intriguing young adult story but didn’t succeed in grabbing me at the time.
    — Duke of Sin (Maiden Lane) by Elizabeth Hoyt which is a Georgian (not Regency) historical romance.
    — Michelle Diener’s Dark Deeds (Class 5 Series Book 2) and Dark Minds (Class 5 Series Book 3). I enjoyed both of these science fiction romances, but the first book in the series (Dark Horse) is by far my favorite.
    — Ashley Gardner’s The Alexandria Affair (Captain Lacey Regency Mysteries Book 11). Ashley Gardner is a pseudonym for Jennifer Ashley of the Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie fame.
    — Heart-Shaped Hack by Tracey Garvis Graves. This book is the first of two books in a series, so I’m now interested in reading further.

    • I’m so glad that you enjoyed Sacked by Jen Frederick. I adore that book and that series. I need to get that Lisa Kleypas series read but I haven’t gotten around to it yet. Soon though.

Holy cow you had a fabulous reading week, I’m so jealous!

For what it’s worth, I enjoyed Marrying Winterborne more than the first in the series. However, do read Cold-Hearted Rake first to get the backstory of the two characters.

I’d already read the second book in the Gridiron series; now I’m looking forward to book three.
