Casee: I read some very good books in July. I’ve decided not to go with volume, but with quality. I read eight books and most of them were very good. Most of the books I read were toward the end of the month because my family was out of town. It’s amazing how much reading time you can get in when there is absolute quiet.

Obviously my favorite book was Archangel’s Heart by Nalini Singh. I love the Guild Hunter series. Holly and I were talking about the Guild Hunter series vs. the Psy/Changeling series at RWA and I felt guilty uttering aloud that I could possibly like the Guild Hunters more. Don’t tell anyone. The biggest surprise of the month was The Bourbon Kings. I was surprised at how much I liked it. It pulled me in and I loved the drama. I’m reading The Angels’ Share right now and it’s the same thing.
Rowena: July wasn’t the reading month I was hoping it would be. I’m still freaking behind in my Goodreads Reading Challenge, in all of my reading challenges if I’m being honest and that stinks. I’m going to try to do better in August so wish me luck.

My favorite read of the month goes to For Better or Worse by Lauren Layne, the second book in the Wedding Belles series. I seriously loved this book and am loving the heck out of the series. It’s cute, it’s fun and the romance is hot! Josh Tanner rocked my socks and I adored Heather Fowler. This is a book that shouldn’t be missed if you enjoyed any of Layne’s other books. I adored it.
My least favorite read of the month goes to Hell Breaks Loose by Sophie Jordan and that’s more because I liked all of the other books that I read last month more. It’s a good book but there were a couple of things that I just couldn’t get over. Still, Reid was hot.

My favorite July read was Recreated by Colleen Houck. My least favorite was ARC of Wake The Hollow, I couldn’t finish it 🙁
My favourite July was J R Ward’s The Beast. My least favourite was One Bear and a baby by Harmony Raines.
I had a pretty meh reading month. My favorite read was Rock Hard by Nalini Singh. I read this series completely out of order and was reluctant to read this one since it didn’t actually involve any members of the band and I don’t usually like the boos/assistant trope. I ended up loving it. The hero, Gabriel, was so alpha yet so patient and caring with the heroine, Charlotte. I loved how he handled her issues due to a past abusive relationship. He’s officially in my favorite heroes list.
My least favorite was Twisted by Emma Chase. While I had some problems with Tangled, I enjoyed it overall. When we rejoin the characters in Twisted, neither the hero or the heroine have shown any growth. They both come off as immature and they still handle things by jumping to conclusions and not having productive conversations that could solve all their issues.

I glommed books 6-10 of the Charley Davidson series by Darynda Jones and I’m going to say that they were my favorite July reads. They just kept getting better and better. Least fav was Dark Minds by Michelle Diener. I loved the first book in this series but this book was just a template repeat of the first 2 books. Kidnapped “earthling woman” by terrible aliens who violate a universe prime directive… check. Too precious and lovely for all to see with the magical singing voice… check. Instalove with “elvish” alien… check. Able to empathize with and “teach” a sentient ship… check. There just wasn’t anything new to catch my attention. Thanks for sharing!
In fiction, my favorite book this month was Eidolon, a fantasy romance by Grace Draven. It was pretty close to perfect. However, the best book I read this month was a non-fiction book that I wish everyone in the country would read called Just Mercy, by Bryan Stevenson, a lawyer in Alabama. He has spent his career fighting for people who have been railroaded and sentenced to unnecessarily harsh sentences due to our unequal justice system. He’s gotten two innocent men off Death Row and argued before the Supreme Court against trying juveniles as adults. The book was well-written, powerful, sad, difficult, and the most important book I’ve read in years.
Least favorite was Found, One Secret Baby by Nancy Holland. I’m a sucker for secret baby plots LOL. There was nothing wrong with it, it just didn’t fully catch my interest. I’d love to win a copy of For Better or Worse.
I just finished The Last Hour of Gann by R. Lee Smith; it was long, fascinating, and definitely hard to put down. It’s my favorite read of the month. I can’t name a least favorite this month — any book I put aside, I’d likely finish in if my mood were different.

I enjoyed Sleepless in Manhattan by Sarah Morgan, Just Kiss Me by Rachel Gibson and The Angel’s Share by J.R. Ward. I didn’t really have a least favorite this month, but Bay of Sighs by Nora Roberts was just okay.

Tried to get into The girl who stayed by Tanya Crosby. It’s a psychological thriller-type book, not my cup of tea right now unfortunately. But just finished up a 4-book series by Sherryl Woods about the Carleton family [an old series] and smiled at the end of each book!
