MR-New

Casee: I did virtually no reading this month. My life was soccer. I couldn’t get away from it. Then there was a wedding. But mostly soccer.

  1. Rule Breaker by Lora Leigh | 3.5 out of 5
  2. Bengal’s Quest by Lora Leigh | 3.75 out of 5
  3. Shadow Rider by Christine Feehan | 4 out of 5
  4. Caged Magic by Jennifer Lyon | 4.5 out of 5

Like I said, no reading. Pathetic. The worst part was that I wanted to read, but I couldn’t. I wasn’t in a slump, but I couldn’t get to my Kindle at all. I love Jennifer Lyon. Yet the Feehan book was right up there. If I had to pick one or the other as my favorite, I would have to go with the Lyon.

Holly: I did a lot of re-reading this month. My life is crazy right now and I don’t have a lot of time for reading.

  1. Shadow Rider by Christine Feehan | 4.25 out of 5
  2. Sh*tty Mom: The Parenting Guide for the Rest of Us | 4.5 out of 5
  3. Sh*tty Mom For All Seaons: Half@ssing It All Year Long | 4.5 out of 5
  4. Valentine by Samantha Young | 4.25 out of 5
  5. Rookie Move by Sarina Bowen | 4 out of 5
  6. The Year We Fell Down by Sarina Bowen (re-read) | 4 out of 5

  9. The Understatement of the Year | 4.25 out of 5
  10. The Shameless Hour by Sarina Bowen | 4.25 out of 5
  11. The Fifteenth Minute by Sarina Bowen (re-read) | 3.75 outof 5
  12. Bittersweet by Sarina Bowen | 4.5 out of 5
  13. The Deal by Elle Kennedy (re-read) | 4.5 out of 5
  14. The Mistake by Elle Kennedy (re-read) | 4.5 out of 5
  15. The Score by Elle Kennedy (re-read) | 3.75 out of 5
  16. Down London Road by Samantha Young (re-read) | 4.5 out of 5
  17. The Gamble by Kristen Ashley (re-read) | 3.5 out of 5
  18. The Wall of Winnipeg and Me by Marian Zapata (re-read) | 3.5 out of 5
  19. Heart of Obsidian by Nalini Singh (re-read) | 5 out of 5
  20. Cry No More by Linda Howard (re-read) | 5 out of 5

As you can see, I kind of went on a bit of a New Adult binge-read. I started with one and couldn’t stop myself from continuing. Aside from re-reads, I’d have to say my favorite reads of the month were Shadow Rider by Christine Feehan and Bittersweet by Sarina Bowen. Both were awesome, in different ways.

Since I mostly re-read, I don’t have a least favorite read.

Rowena: May was for the Psy/Changelings series by Nalini Singh. I had a plan. I was going to catch up with that series in pieces, not read everything at once but I couldn’t help myself. I just had to keep going and going and going until I was all caught up and right now, I’m sad because I don’t have any more Psy/Changeling books to read. sigh

  1. Troublemaker by Linda Howard | 4.25 out of 5
  2. Good Girl (Love Unexpectedly #2) by Lauren Layne | 3.5 out of 5
  3. 26 Kisses by Anna Michels | 3.5 out of 5
  4. From this Day Forward (Wedding Belles #0.5) by Lauren Layne | 4 out of 5
  5. Falling into Bed with a Duke (Hellions of Havisham #1) by Lorraine Heath (re-read) | 4.5 out of 5
  6. Bonds of Justice (Psy/Changelings #8) by Nalini Singh | 5 out of 5
  7. Play of Passion (Psy/Changelings #9) by Nalini Singh | 4 out of 5
  8. Kiss of Snow (Psy/Changelings #10) by Nalini Singh | 5 out of 5
  9. Tangle of Need (Psy/Changelings #11) by Nalini Singh | 4 out of 5
  10. Heart of Obsidian (Psy/Changelings #12) by Nalini Singh | 5 out of 5
  11. Shield of Winter (Psy/Changelings #13) by Nalini Singh | 4.5 out of 5

My favorite book from May was probably Appealed by Emma Chase. I own several of her books, but this was the first I actually got around to reading (actually listening to). I had a good reading month and there was nothing I disliked, but if I had to pick a least favorite it would be Magnate by Joanna Shupe. I liked it, but not as much as I expected to.

    Others I enjoyed this month:
Lost Among the Living by Simone St. James
When Falcons Fall by C. S. Harris
Dark Wild Night by Christina Lauren
Wicked Sexy Liar by Christina Lauren
    Hollywood Dirt by Alessandra Torre
The Player and the Pixie by Penny Reid
The Great Zoo of China by Matthew Reilly (This one is not a romance. It’s basically Jurassic Park with dragons.)

  2. Helen

I would second APPEALED by Emma Chase. So much to love about that book.
    I would also recommend:
THE OBSESSION by Nora Roberts, DIRTY by Kylie Scott and WORTH IT ALL by Claudia Connor
My least favorite book was a DNF – The Player Next Door by Kathy Lyons (I will attribute my DNFing a book to not being in the mood for the story rather than the writing).

Thanks so much for the giveaway! I would love to win BITTERSWEET.

  3. Gah, I adore this series. I mean, Heart of Obsidian is my favorite and Bonds of Memory is my least favorite, but that’s the difference between a 5 star and a 4 star. Any of them are worth reading. The best things I’ve been reading recently are Mariana Zapata’s backlist. I’ve gotten through The Wall of Winnipeg and Me, Under Locke, and Lingus so far, and there’s not been a dud yet, IMO. Probably Winnipeg is still my favorite. I’ve actually not read anything horrible recently

  4. Kareni

One of my favorites this month was Zapata’s The Wall of Winnipeg and Me. I won’t name a least favorite as my not finishing books was probably more about me than the book.

I’m a big fan of Sarina Bowen’s books and would very much like to read Bittersweet.

  5. Arissa

Favorite of the month A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas and least favorite Evil by Tijan

I’m glomming the Tracers series by Laura Griffin. They are awesome! Thanks for sharing!

  7. Kim

I’m currently reading Marrying Winterborne and it’s good. My least favorite was Wedding Night With the Earl. It had such a good build-up in the prior book, but fell flat.

  8. JenM

My favorite book of the month was a non-fiction book, The Year of Living Danishly. It actually made me want to move to rural Denmark for a year. On the romance side, it was a good reading month with Beautiful Stranger by Christina Lauren, Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins, The Duke of Olympia Meets His Match by Julianna Gray, The Billionaire and the Virgin by Jessica Clare, and two books by Staci Hart, With a Twist and Chaser. My least favorite book of the month was a YA, Dragons Are People Too by Sarah Nicolas. I read it because dragons! but unfortunately it reminded me of all the things I don’t like about YA. I would love to win Bittersweet. I’ll read anything that Sarina Bowen writes.
