What Are You Reading? (284)

WAYR-New

Casee: I’m reading Exposed (Book 7 in the Tracer series) by Laura Griffin. I’ve read this series on and off for years. She really reminds me of Karen Rose, but the suspense is a little slower. This book is about the photographer, Maddie Callahan. I have the next few books in the series.

I finally got through Bengal’s Quest by Lora Leigh. That one took me longer than I thought it would. I’ve only read two books this month. Considering that we’re almost half way through the month, I really feel like a book loser.

Holly: I went on a re-read binge of my favorite NA series this week. Well, week is stretching it a bit since I read all of them in the span of two days. I have to say, I loved them all just as much this time around.

I read The Deal, The Mistake and The Score by Elle Kennedy, which made me laugh and tugged at my emotions just as much as the first time. The Year We Fell Down and The Year We Hid Away by Sarina Bowen just slayed me. TYWHA made me ugly cry..again. The Hook Up and The Friend Zone by Kristen Callihan left me feeling all warm and fuzzy. I don’t remember loving Gray more than Drew when I first read these, but I do after this last read. Gray Gray!

I read Valentine by Samantha Young, a free collection of short stories from the On Dublin Street world. It was nice revisiting the old couples.

I started Crescent Moon by Lori Handeland, which I thought was the first in a series, but it turns it out it’s the fourth. Since I’m not familiar with her work, I can’t say if I need to read the others first or if I can start here (I’m not even sure why I have this book..it may have been a free download at some point?). It was kind of slow moving and I wasn’t really invested in it so I set it aside for now. The same thing happened with Indirect Lines by Dana Marie Bell. Lynda recommended it to me so I’m sure it’ll be good, but I wasn’t in the mood and only managed to get through a few pages before setting it aside.

For mother’s day my brother bought me Shtty Mom: The Parenting Guide for the Rest of Us by Mary Ann Zoellner, Laurie Kilmartin, Karen Moline, Alicia Ybarbo  and Shtty Mom For All Seasons:Half@ssing it All Year Long by Alicia Ybarbo, Mary Ann Zoellner, Erin Clune. Both books had me in stitches and made me realize I’m not alone out here. I read parts of them to my husband and kids and they were rolling, too. I definitely recommend both if you need  a stress reliever.

Rowena: I’m feeling a lot like Daniel with the white vans because I’m back at it again with the Psy/Changelings books. I finished my review books for the month so I’m rewarding myself with some more Psy and Changelings goodness.

This week I read 26 Kisses by Anna Michels, which was a cute contemporary YA book and then I read From this Day Forward by Lauren Layne and really enjoyed that short introduction into her new Wedding Belles series. I’m looking forward to the first book for sure. After that, I jumped into Bonds of Justice by Nalini Singh and freaking LOVED that book. I really loved me some Max Shannon and Sophie Russo. I loved their story, I loved the way that Max loved Sophie and I loved how worthy Sophie wanted to be for Max. I’m also really enjoying the story being told in the background. Things are changing, loyalties are shifting and shit is getting real.

Right now, I’m reading Play of Passion and Drew is really doing it for me. I’m loving him and his romance with Indigo. He’s going for his girl and I’m so here for it. After this one, it’s Hawke and Sienna time and I can’t stinkin’ wait!

What are you reading this week? Any new favorites or books that drove you crazy? Share!

I’ve been trying to vary my reading a bit, so I just started a nonfiction book called The Year of Living Danishly by Helen Russell. It follows a couple from London who move to rural Denmark for a year when he gets a job with the Lego company (who knew Legos were Danish???). I’ve been to Copenhagen and loved it and the Danes are famous for being supposedly the happiest people in the world so I thought this would be interesting. As a bonus, I’m a couple of chapters in and so far it is laugh out loud funny. I think I’m really going to like it.

Ooh ooh I got to read a little this week! I read Hold Your Breath by Katie Ruggle. I really liked it because it’s so funny, which is not something you usually see much of in romantic suspense. (The next one in the series is about a motorcycle club. I may actually be tempted to read an MC book, whoda thunk it?) In my quest to get through Linda Howard’s back list, I also read Up Close and Dangerous. I enjoyed that one too, though it was a lot like some of her other books.

I’ve been reading something bit more heavy recently but really enjoying it.
Gag Rule by Edward A. Dreyfus is a fiction novel about the wife of an accused child sex offender and the marital issues throughout the case. The author writes from vast experience as a psychologist so I expect a lot of this story is based around true stories. Fascinating stuff.
