A life full of children and mysteries to solve doesn't leave much time for relaxation or each other, something Lumie wants to help fix for Dane and Mercury by way of arranging a picnic. But good intentions and life rarely cooperate, and Dane knows it's only a matter of time before all hell breaks loose.

Hell turns out to be someone using Quicksilver's name to destroy buildings, but there's no way to tell whether the enemy is an impostor or a trap—and only way to find out. Hopefully it won't mean missing the picnic.

In book 1 of the Supernatural Consultant series we met Dane who is THE Supernatural Consultant and the man/dragon he fell in love with, Mercury. Mercury had saved and adopted seven dragon kits and when you love the dragon, you love his kits as well. Dane has no issue with this and loves those kits like they are his own. In this story we get a closer look at Mercury as he goes to work for the SuperFeds aka the FBI for Supernaturals.

Mercury is partnered with an agent that is a complete hard ass and looks so far down on him you would think he was mud on her shoe. Of course he is just a data analyst and this is his first job in the field so he is a little out of his league. That is until he gets to the scene of the crime and realizes that he can help a whole lot more than he thought. He engages the help of his lover, Dane, and a few of their kits to try and find dragons that are being experimented on.

This was another really good story in the SC series. I love Dane and Mercury and their whole crazy family. We got to see more of Lumie and his strange prescient abilities and of Nick who is only 13 but becoming quite the SC himself.

I’m really having a great time reading this series and can’t wait to see what happens next.
