Alex Dawn is saying no to men. No to bad relationships, disappointments, and smooth-talkers. Focusing on her family and her job at Payton and Sons Automotive keeps her mind occupied and her heart content. She doesn’t really miss a man’s touch, until one night, a man shows up with the body of a god and a voice from her dirtiest dreams.

L.M. Spencer is only in Tory, Maryland, to scope out the town as a possible site for one of his company's hotels. The British businessman didn’t expect his car to break down or to find the hottest little American he’s ever seen holding a tire iron, piercing him with bright blue eyes.

They agree to one hot night, one dirty deed to burn out the chemistry between them. But from their first kiss, Alex can’t stop saying yes to this man. And when Spencer’s company threatens everything she cares about, they must make the choice to stand together or apart.

This is the third book in the Mechanics of Love series and it follows Alex Dawn to her happy ending. It was a short and sweet read that I ate right up.

We met Alex in the previous book and she’s the sister of the heroine in that book. She’s also a co-worker of the hero of that book and she’s a feisty little thang.

Alex Dawn is a lady mechanic who is a one night stand kind of gal. She’s not the relationship kind since her last relationship soured her on that whole business but when she meets British hottie L.M. Spencer, she keeps having one night stands with him. She can’t seem to stop herself and neither can he.

Spencer is from England (Manchester area) and is no stranger to a mechanics shop, having grown up in the one his father owns back in England. He wanted bigger and better things for himself so once he turned 18, he went to college in New York and made a life for himself in the big city. Now his job has taken him to the east coast small town of Tory, Maryland where he is scouting the area for a place to build a hotel resort.

They were supposed to go their separate ways after their one night stand but when Spencer gets sent back to Tory, they keep running into each other and after a while, they realize that they want to keep running into each other so a temporary relationship is formed between them. They’re only having fun until Spencer heads back to New York and they’re both okay with that but drama goes down before Spence leaves and their relationship is thrown for a loop.

I really enjoyed seeing Alex grow from beginning to end and for such a short story, I thought Erickson did a wonderful job of showing Alex’s vulnerability with relationships. I knew that Robby would be making an appearance in this book and I thought Alex came a long way from the last book. She was always strong and independent but you could see that there was still some hurt thrown up in the mix too. She didn’t trust men easily and I liked seeing her come into her own with Spencer.

I really liked Alex’s character but I also loved Spencer’s as well. I thought they were great people a part but a fantastic couple together. They were awkward and just so normal and I completely fell for their romance.

Megan Erickson wrote an engaging romance that swept me right up. The characters, the romance, the setting, it all just worked for me. It wasn’t one of those series that was bogged down with angst and emotional drama and I liked that. Just a straight up romance with likable characters. I recommend.
