Books to Binge OnI can’t believe it’s already the last month of the year. What happened to 2015?? The good news is there are plenty of great releases to take my mind off the fact that I’m getting old. The bad news is my bank account is feeling sad and deflated.

my kind of wonderful
1. My Kind of Wonderful by Jill Shalvis.

UNEXPECTED AND UNDENIABLE…

Bailey Moore has an agenda: skiing in the Rockies, exploring castles in Europe, ballroom dancing in Argentina. Now that she has a second lease on life, she’s determined not to miss a thing. What she doesn’t realize is that item #1 comes with a six-foot-one ski god hot enough to melt a polar ice cap. She doesn’t want to miss out on him either, but Hudson Kincaid isn’t the type of guy to love and let go. And as gorgeous as Cedar Ridge is, she’s not planning to stick around.

As head of ski patrol at his family’s resort, Hud thinks he’s seen it all. But never has he run into someone like Bailey. She might look delicate, but her attitude is all firecracker. And her infectious joy touches something deep within him that he’s been missing far too long. Now he’ll just have to convince Bailey to take a chance on her biggest adventure yet . . . something rare and all kinds of wonderful.

Holly: I’ve been on a break from contemporary small-town romances, but I’m excited for this one regardless. It’s not secret I love pretty much everything Shalvis.

Rowena: I enjoyed the first book in this series so I’m looking forward to getting to know Hudson more and seeing him get his happy ending. Can’t wait to dig into this one!

shadows end
2. Shadow’s End by Thea Harrison.

The author of Lord’s Fall and Midnight’s Kiss returns with an enchanting and sizzling new tale about debts that cannot be repaid and hunger that cannot be satisfied…

For Beluviel, consort to the Elven High Lord, and Graydon, gryphon and First Sentinel of the Wyr, even the slightest desire for each other is forbidden. But two hundred years ago, after a desperate play to save Beluviel’s stepson left them indebted to the cruel Djinn Malphas, they found their fates inexorably linked together—and the hunger between them growing too strong to ignore…

Two centuries later, with their debt to Malphas coming due, Beluviel and Graydon realize that, if they are to stand any chance of saving their souls, they must once again work together—this time more closely than ever before. But every moment they spend with each other brings them nearer to losing something even more vital—their hearts…]

Holly: Graydon! Finally! I don’t know if I was just wasn’t paying attention or what, but I was surprised who his heroine is. I really liked the story, though, and felt they were well matched. This series, man. This series.

Rowena: I really need to get my ass in gear and get this series read. Graydon! Yum!

once a marquess
3. Once Upon a Marquess by Courtney Milan.

The last man Judith Worth wants to see again is Charles Trent, the Marquess of Ashford—the man who spent summers at her family home, who kissed her one magical night…and then heartlessly ruined her father. But when a tricky business matter arises, he’s the only one she can ask for help. With any luck, he’ll engage a servant to take care of the matter, and she won’t even have to talk with him.

But Ashford has never forgotten Judith. He knows she will never forgive him for what he’s done, but when offered the chance to assist her, he arrives in person. His memory of Judith may have haunted him, but it pales in comparison to the reality of the vivacious, beautiful woman he rediscovers. Throughout his life, he has always done what is correct. But now, he finds himself doing something utterly wrong…falling in love with the one woman he can never have.

Holly: I’m finally reading historicals again and Milan is always good for an engaging few hours. I’m excited for this.

make me stay
4. Make Me Stay by Jaci Burton.

The New York Times bestselling author of Love After All and the Play-by-Play series delivers a new novel about how love sometimes has plans of its own.

Having left his hometown of Hope years ago, only one thing could persuade architect Reid McCormack to come home for a lengthy stay—the challenge of renovating a historic building. But once the job is finished, he’ll be headed back to Boston, no matter how much he’s drawn to beautiful florist Samantha Reasor.

Samantha watches over her elderly grandmother and pours a piece of herself into every floral creation she designs. Her crush on Reid has been blooming for a while now, but she’s reluctant to act on it. A temporary fling isn’t what she’s looking for, even if Reid is smoking hot and super sexy. She wants a real, permanent, forever kind of love.

Two people with different goals couldn’t possibly work, and yet as their attraction grows into something deeper, maybe falling in love is the one thing Samantha and Reid can build a future on.

Holly: Would it be wrong of me to admit I want this book because of the cover? I mean, I love this series and I’m excited for the story, but that cover? Come to mama.

Rowena: Yeah, that cover is so full of yum. The book cover Gods continue to smile down on Jaci Burton.

coming back
5. Coming Back by Lauren Dane.

As deeply devoted as they are, no one knows what great bliss their forbidden fantasy will find-or the price they may pay . .

Holly: I’m really loving this series. Hot tattooed guys who build custom cars + Dane’s brand of strong, independent women = WIN! Plus, this is a menage story. DOUBLE WIN!

charming
6. Charming by Dannika Dark.

After seven hundred years, Prince has acquired everything a Packmaster could desire. But when he meets the enchanting Nadia Kozlov, he realizes there’s one thing he doesn’t have: answers. Prince owes his life to a man he hasn’t seen in centuries, and Nadia holds the key to his whereabouts, because that man is her father.

Destinies collide when Nadia’s sister shows up unexpectedly. Katarina is a skilled bounty hunter, hot on the trail of a nefarious outlaw who turns out to be Prince’s old nemesis. Prince teams up with Nadia’s sister to track down the Mage, but the real game of cat and mouse is already underway as sparks fly between Prince and the cunning bounty hunter.

The only trouble? Nadia wants him too.

In the Seven series timeline, this full-length novel is 6.5. However, Charming can also be enjoyed as a stand-alone.

Holly: We’re finally getting Prince’s story. I’m curious to see how it turns out.

mastered
7. Mastered by Maya Banks.

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Breathless Trilogy comes the first novel in the Enforcers series—a bold new direction in erotic romance that explores the games men and women play, and the price they’re willing to pay for pleasure.

What he wants, he takes with no remorse or guilt.

She stood out in his club like a gem, unspoiled and untouched. A lamb among wolves, she clearly didn’t belong. Drawn to her innocence he watched as she was surrounded by men who saw what he did—but no one but him could touch her. He summoned her to his private quarters. He sensed her fear. He also recognized the desire in her eyes. And he knew she wouldn’t leave before he possessed her. She had no need to know his secrets. Not until he had her under his complete and utter control.

What he wants, she isn’t sure she can give him.

The moment he told her want he wanted, she couldn’t resist. Instinct told her to run, but her heart said stay and walk the fine line between pleasure and pain. Though she wasn’t sure she could ever completely surrender, the primal part of her wanted to try, even knowing this man could break her in ways she never imagined. Because once he possessed her, he owned her and it would be too late to turn back. She can only pray that he doesn’t destroy her in the end.

Holly: I’m on the fence about this one. I like Maya Banks but I’m pretty much done with BDSM. I might wait to see what the reviews look like before I buy it.

liam takes manhattan
8. Liam Takes Manhattan by Thea Harrison.

Reeling from a deep loss, the magical prince of the Wyr, Dragos and Pia’s son Liam Cuelebre, turns inward and withdrawn as he struggles to come to terms with who he is, along with the challenges that lie before him.

Hoping to ease his heartache and offer comfort, a concerned Dragos and Pia offer him a gift, something he has desired for a long time. Liam’s response has a ripple effect across all of New York. Soon miracles of all kinds start arriving just in time for Christmas, along with a visit from a mysterious person who gives Liam hope and a vision of his future.

Holly: I never would have thought I’d crave a book about a kid (not that he’s actually much of a kid anymore) this much, but man do I love Liam. I can’t wait to find out what happens to him in this story and see things from his perspective.

dukes prefer blondes
9. Duke’s Prefer Blondes by Loretta Chase.

Biweekly marriage proposals from men who can’t see beyond her (admittedly breathtaking) looks are starting to get on Lady Clara Fairfax’s nerves. Desperate to be something more than ornamental, she escapes to her favorite charity. When a child is in trouble, she turns to tall, dark, and annoying barrister Oliver Radford.

Though he’s unexpectedly found himself in line to inherit a dukedom, Radford’s never been part of fashionable society, and the blonde beauty, though not entirely bereft of brains, isn’t part of his plans. But Clara overwhelms even his infallible logic, and when wedlock looms, all he can do is try not to lose his head over her.

It’s an inconvenient marriage by ordinary standards, but these two are far from ordinary. Can the ton’s most adored heiress and London’s most difficult bachelor fall victim to their own unruly desires?

Holly: For some reason I thought this was already out? I must have it confused with another book. Either way, I’m exited for a new Chase.

Rowena: I’m super excited for this book. I can’t wait to dig into Clara’s book.

blood kiss
10. Blood Kiss by J.R. Ward.

The legacy of the Black Dagger Brotherhood continues in a spin-off series from the #1 New York Times bestselling author…

Paradise, blooded daughter of the king’s First Advisor, is ready to break free from the restrictive life of an aristocratic female. Her strategy? Join the Black Dagger Brotherhood’s training center program and learn to fight for herself, think for herself…be herself. It’s a good plan, until everything goes wrong. The schooling is unfathomably difficult, the other recruits feel more like enemies than allies, and it’s very clear that the Brother in charge, Butch O’Neal, a.k.a. the Dhestroyer, is having serious problems in his own life.

And that’s before she falls in love with a fellow classmate. Craeg, a common civilian, is nothing her father would ever want for her, but everything she could ask for in a male. As an act of violence threatens to tear apart the entire program, and the erotic pull between them grows irresistible, Paradise is tested in ways she never anticipated—and left wondering whether she’s strong enough to claim her own power…on the field, and off.

Holly: I stopped reading the BDB series a million books back, but I’m a little curious about this spinoff.

rogue not taken
11. The Rogue Not Taken by Sarah Maclean.

Lady Sophie’s Society Splash!

When Sophie, the least interesting of the Talbot sisters, lands her philandering brother-in-law backside-first in a goldfish pond in front of all society, she becomes the target of very public aristocratic scorn. Her only choice is to flee London, vowing to start a new life far from the aristocacy. Unfortunately, the carriage in which she stows away isn’t saving her from ruin . . . it’s filled with it.

Rogue’s Reign of Ravishment!

Kingscote, “King,” the Marquess of Eversley, has never met a woman he couldn’t charm, resulting in a reputation far worse than the truth, a general sense that he’s more pretty face than proper gentleman, and an irate summons home to the Scottish border. When King discovers stowaway Sophie, however, the journey becomes anything but boring.

War? Or More?

He thinks she’s trying to trick him into marriage. She wouldn’t have him if he were the last man on earth. But carriages bring close quarters, dark secrets, and unbearable temptation, making opposites altogether too attractive . . .

Holly: I love Maclean’s books. That’s it.

Rowena: I can’t wait to read this one. It’s a MacLean, of COURSE I want it!

dirty deeds
12. Dirty Deeds (Mechanics of Love #3) by Megan Erickson.

Alex Dawn is saying no to men. No to bad relationships, disappointments, and smooth-talkers. Focusing on her family and her job at Payton and Sons Automotive keeps her mind occupied and her heart content. She doesn’t really miss a man’s touch, until one night, a man shows up with the body of a god and a voice from her dirtiest dreams.

L.M. Spencer is only in Tory, Maryland, to scope out the town as a possible site for one of his company’s hotels. The British businessman didn’t expect his car to break down or to find the hottest little American he’s ever seen holding a tire iron, piercing him with bright blue eyes.

They agree to one hot night, one dirty deed to burn out the chemistry between them. But from their first kiss, Alex can’t stop saying yes to this man. And when Spencer’s company threatens everything she cares about, they must make the choice to stand together or apart.

Rowena: I’m really looking forward to reading this one. I really enjoyed the last book in this series so I’m looking forward to seeing who Alex ends up with. It’ll be nice to catch up with everyone else as well.

lord dashwood missed out
13. Lord Dashwood Missed Out (Spindle Cove #4.5) by Tessa Dare.

A snowstorm hath no fury like a spinster scorned!

Miss Elinora Browning grew up yearning for the handsome, intelligent lord-next-door…but he left England without a word of farewell. One night, inspired by a bit too much sherry, Nora poured out her heartbreak on paper. Lord Dashwood Missed Out was a love letter to every young lady who’d been overlooked by gentlemen—and an instant bestseller. Now she’s on her way to speak in Spindle Cove when snowy weather delays her coach. She’s forced to wait out the storm with the worst possible companion: Lord Dashwood himself.

And he finally seems to have noticed her.

George Travers, Lord Dashwood, has traveled the globe as a cartographer. He returned to England with the goal of marrying and creating an heir–only to find his reputation shredded by an audacious, vexingly attractive bluestocking and her poison pen. Lord Dashwood Missed Out, his arse. Since Nora Browning seems to believe he overlooked the passion of a lifetime, Dash challenges her to prove it.

She has one night.

Rowena: Two words. Tessa Dare. Of course I want this one. I love the Spindle Cove series and I know that Tessa Dare is going to deliver another winner for me so bring on this historical goodness!

That’s all of the books that we can think of coming out this month. Any books we missed? Any books you’re looking forward to releasing this month?

  1. Hey guys!

I weighed in here when y’all talked about the first book in the “Cedar Ridge” series by Jill Shalvis and I wanted to follow up. I really liked the first one, but I thought it contained a LOT of character building – setting up for the entire series.

I snatched up the ARC for this one, and I found it had much less exposition because of that initial set up, and it was way more enjoyable for me. Also, having that background allowed me to remember each of the siblings easier than I’ve done with other series’, so pretty smart on Ms. Shalvis’ end.

And can I just add… Hud? *swoon*. Can’t wait for book 3! I totally shouldn’t have read the teaser. 😉
