Holly: This was a good reading week for me quantity-wise, but I mostly re-read. Since I’d planned to read only new books, it was kind of a fail week. After a discussion on Twitter earlier this week, I ended up doing a re-read of Linda Howard’s Kell Sabin series. I read all four book, Midnight Rainbow, Diamond Bay, White Lies and Heartbreaker. The premise of each story is so ridiculously implausible the books shouldn’t work at all, yet they do.

Then I read her unrelated novellas The Way Home and Overload. All  in one day. Then I had to read Duncan’s Bride. Because a Linda Howard binge isn’t complete without it.  I also re-read Rock Chick: Regret by Kristen Ashley, for which I blame Lynda (@fishwithsticks). She was talking about it on Twitter. I’m sorry for it now, since I really dislike that book. I don’t know why I torture myself like that.

I finished Midnight’s Kiss by Thea Harrison, which I really loved. I wish there were like eleventy-million of those books out already so I could binge. I started Soulbound by Kristen Callihan but set it aside about halfway through. I just wasn’t in the mood for that dark of a story. I’ll go back to it later.

Rowena: Damn. I don’t know what’s going on with me but I’m starting to get real scared. I took a break from the Psy-Changeling series and I tried finishing up The Last Time We Say Goodbye by Cynthia Hand but that didn’t happen. I tried starting one book after the other and I’m just not in the mood to read. Ugh.

Yesterday, I started The Summer of Chasing Mermaids by Sarah Ockler and that seems to be holding my attention so I should finish that up today and then I’m going to start either The Deal by Elle Kennedy or Inspire by Cora Carmack.

What are you reading?

  1. Linda Howard…it’s scary, huh? Once you start, you just can’t turn away. And yes to the Kell Sabin stories–why do they work? it’s the magic of Linda Howard.

    Reese Duncan…Wolf Mackenzie… :happy sigh:

I’m currently reading Soulbound and I’m liking it with reservations. I feel like Eliza needs a slap upside the head cuz I’m not buying her “I-need-my-freeeeedom” thing that’s making her act like a spoiled brat. I’m only about 1/3 through so I’m hoping she sees the light. I’ve started this year finally reading strong and not doing the pick-up-put-back-down dance. Fingers crossed that I’m finally over the reading slump that plagued me *all* last year.

  3. Kell Sabin series = *sigh*, great books! 😀

I have just finished C S Harris’ Why Kings Confess – the 9th book in the Sebastian St Cyr mystery series, fantastic! And book 10 is out on Tuesday! HuZZah!

I’m reading The Rake to Rescue Her by Julia Justiss. It’s a good second chance at love story (historical)

  5. I’m into rereads lately. I’m rereading Wild Hawk by Justine Davis and Until Tomorrow by Rosanne Bittner. I’m also making my way through Concealed in Death by JD Robb – somehow I’ve manage to get behind on those ones
