Rowena: December wasn’t the best reading month for me but I still got some pretty decent reads going. I finally started the Sarina Bowen books that Holly and Ames have been going on about and I loved each and every single story. They made my Best of 2014 lists and just in the nick of time too. 🙂

Here’s a list of what I read in December:

1. To All the Boys I’ve Ever Loved by Jenny Han| 4 out of 5
2. The Unexpected Consequences of Love by Jill Mansell | 4 out of 5
3. The Secrets of Sir Richard Kenworthy by Julia Quinn | 3.5 out of 5
4. 99 Days by Katie Cotugno | 2 out of 5
5. Things We Know by Heart by Jessi Kirby | 4 out of 5
6. The Year We Fell Down by Sarina Bowen | 4.5 out of 5
7. The Year We Hid Away by Sarina Bowen | 4.5 out of 5
8. Blonde Date by Sarina Bowen | 4 out of 5
9. The Understatement of the Year by Sarina Bowen | 4 out of 5
10. Heat of the Moment by Lauren Barnholdt | 3 out of 5
11. The Originals: The Rise by Julie Plec | 2.5 out of 5
12. Gone too Far by Suzanne Brockmann | 4.5 out of 5
13. Cry No More by Linda Howard | 4.75 out of 5
14. Night Whispers by Judith McNaught | 3 out of 5

My favorite read of the month was probably The Year We Hid Away by Sarina Bowen. Bridger and Scarlet’s story was so heartbreaking and yet so satisfying as well. Loved them both. Lucy too. 🙂

My least favorite read of the month is 99 Days by Katie Cotugno. That book drove me crazy but for some reason, I kept reading it. The main character didn’t learn a damn thing until for me, it was too freaking late. But at least it ended the way that it did.

Holly: December was an abysmal reading month for me. I read seven books. 7! I blame Dead Heat by Patricia Briggs for ruining all other books for me. For at least a week after I couldn’t even look at another book.

1. The Gamble by Kristen Ashley (re-read) | 4 out of 5
2. Golden Trail by Kristen Ashley | 4 out of 5
3. No Ifs, Ands, or Bears About It by Celia Kyle | 2.75 out of 5
4. Opening Up by Lauren Dane | 4.25 out of 5
5. Blonde Date by Sarina Bowen (re-read) | 4.25 out of 5
6. The Year We Hid Away by Sarina Bowen (re-read) | 4.75 out of 5
7. Dead Heat by Patricia Briggs | 4.75 out of 5

My favorite read of the month was Dead Heat. I’ve always loved Charles and Anna, but their personal growth and the progression of their relationship really worked for me here.

My least favorite read was No Ifs, Ands, or Bears About It. It had a good premise, but it desperately needed an editor.

This month, we’re giving away the following books:

The Unexpected Consequences of Love by Jill Mansell
Dead Heat by Patricia Briggs (Pre-order, print or digital, for the March 2015 release)

If you want to be entered to win, leave a comment on this post telling us what your favorite – and least favorite – reads of the month were. Also, be sure to tell us what book you’re interested in reading. You can put your name in for more than one book, but you’ll only be allowed to win one, so choose wisely.

In December, my favorite book was Burn for Me, by Ilona Andrews. I can’t wait for book two in this new series. It was just a bit better than my second favorite, Sarah MacLean’s Never Judge a Lady by Her Cover. My least favorite read was Vanessa Kelly’s Confessions of a Royal Bridegroom. I’ve enjoyed other Kelly books, so I hope this is a temporary aberration.

If I win, I’d enjoy reading either the Briggs or Mansell books. Thanks for the giveaway.

  2. Natasha

Favorite book was Tangled by Emma Chase. I could not put it down.
Lest favorite was Merry Christmas, Baby by Jill Shalvis.

Would love to read the book by Patricia Briggs. I haven’t read anything from Jill Mansell yet.

I only read 8 books in December due to the holidays and working a lot. I tried to do more Christmas themed books. My fav was A Christmas Gone Perfectly Wrong by Cecilia Grant and my least fav was Gift of Desire by Samantha Kane and Kate Pearce. It was horrible, I just read it too close to Ms. Grant’s novella. I’m soooooo excited for Dead Heat 🙂 Thanks for the fun giveaway!

  4. Ashley J

My favorite read over the holiday was Rock Addiction. Least favorite was The Opposite of Wild by Kylie Gilmore. There was nothing wrong with the book. I just could not get into it. I will probably try it again later. Can’t wait for Dead Heat. thanks!

  5. JenM

My two favorite books in December were Nice Dragons Finish Last by Rachel Aaron, a really fun UF and Full Measures by Rebecca Yarros – an absolutely fantastic and intense NA. I’d highly recommend it – I’ve been really lucky in my NA reads lately (including the Ivy Years series) after a long dry spell. My least favorite was Kissed By a Dark Prince by Felicity Heaton. It just didn’t engage me. I can’t WAIT to read Dead Heat. I love Anna and Charles so much. The A/O series is my favorite comfort re-read.

  6. Kareni

My most favorite book of late has been Joanna Bourne’s Rogue Spy. My least favorite … hmm … was probably Suite Francaise. The latter is not because it was a bad book but because I had to work to read it. It was a poignant book.

I’d love to read Dead Heat as I’m a big fan of Charles and Anna.

  7. Caroline

My favourite read last month was Ancillary Justice, by Ann Leckie. I don’t read much SciFi but this book, and its sequel, were amazing. My least favourite was probably Venomous, by Penelope Fletcher. It wasn’t so bad, but it wasn’t particularly good either.
I would love to read Dead Heat, by Patricia Briggs.

  8. Maureen

My favorite was Frozen by Meljean Brook. It was fast paced and just right for the holidays. My least favorite was Reaper’s Stand by Joanna Wylde. I really like this series but I just thought the heroine’s actions made no sense. Please enter me for both books.

  9. bn100

least favorite- On Dublin Street by Samantha Young; didn’t like anything about it
liked meant to be by Lauren Morrill
entering for The Unexpected Consequences of Love and Dead Heat

    • Rowena and I were just talking about On Dublin Street. I didn’t like it either. I hope you continue on with the series, though, because Down London Road is one of my favorite books.

  10. Sharlene Wegner

I agree with Merry Christmas Baby by Jill Shalvis being my least favorite. I was really annoyed with Sawyer leaving Chloe all alone when she was so very pregnant. Christmas at Tiffany’s by Karen Swan was one of my favorites. It covers the heroine living in 4 cities and how she ends up where & with whom she is meant to be. BTW, I did like On Dublin Street! And Tangled. If I had my choice of the books above, I would pick the Jill Mansell book! I love her books!

  11. Duh, wrong book chosen! I’d like a print copy of Jill Mansell’s book THE UNEXPECTED CONSEQUENCES OF LOVE. Thanks for the opportunity to get some free reads on my shelves!!!
