What Are You Reading? (215)

Rowena: I think I’ve found my rhythm with this new job because I’m not so tired when I get home anymore and I’m really, really liking my commute. You guys, gone are the hour long drives home, just sitting on the freeway. I am home within ten minutes every day. On average, I get home in about 7 minutes. Seriously, I am loving this.

Anyway, with all of this energy that I seem to have found, you would think that I’d be reading up a storm but aside from Nate’s book Promise Me This by Christina Lee (which I LOVED) and then some stupid book that I’m so embarrassed I read. In case you’re wondering, I read this book. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Ugh.

This weekend, I’m going to try to get some reading done and I’m going to pick up I Want it That Way by Ann Aguirre.

Holly: I’m feeling kind of meh about reading this week. I think about reading, but I don’t actually pick anything up to read. I don’t know what my problem is.

I read Broken Open, the next book in the Hurley Brothers series, which prompted re-reads of Laid Bare (Only $2.99 right now!!), Coming Undone and Count on Me by Lauren Dane. All three are personal favorites and I wasn’t disappointed this time around.

I read True by Erin McCarthy, which was both good and frustrating. I had some issues with the way the friends of the heroine acted, but I really liked the hero and heroine and their story. I’m going to continue the series, but I needed to take some time before I dove into it.

I also read Tempting the Player by Kat Latham, book 3 in the London Legends series, about a professional rugby team. I’m loving this series. LOVING IT.

I’m not sure what I’m going to read next. Maybe The Hook Up by Kristen Callihan.

What are you reading?

  1. I’m glad you have such a short commute now. You could probably walk to work now! Yay.

I’m totally laughing at you for reading that Tentacle book. (We won’t talk about how I downloaded it, also. Free is free, man.)

    • I probably could since my boss bikes to work every Friday and he lives the next city over from me. But let’s be real…I won’t be doing that. LOL.

Did you read it? You were supposed to read it too.

  2. I just discovered Elle Kennedy, through a couple of freebies posted (I believe) at Dear Author, and now I’m re-reading One Night of Sin (so good!).

I’m also re-reading a very old (older than my eldest offspring!) Nora Roberts, Local Hero because it’s become a sort of comfort read for me when things outside in the real world make me so mad I could punch fraternity boys in the nuts so hard they spit them out…

    Sorry about that.

    • I heard about that. Some people are assholes.

I did recently read an article about a nail polish developed by college students that changes color when it comes into contact with a date rape drug. I hope that’s available to all soon.

      • Isn’t it sad that women are driven to such extreme measures just to ensure they are safe to do what men do without thinking? Namely: going to a college party.

And don’t even get me started on the asshats who want to claim that physical abuse in a relationship is due to the poor male having suffered too many concussions. Because dog forbid grown ass men take responsibility for their own choice to abuse those weaker, smaller, around them.

(not in the best frame of mind to start the weekend, sorry to “spread the sunshine” but I’m seriously seeing red at the moment)

        • My daughter is starting college next year. I’m sad and sick over the fact that my first instinct is to tell her not to go to any parties, drink any drinks she didn’t open herself and not to walk alone on campus. And she hasn’t even decided on a school yet. It’s ridiculous.

Of course too many concussions make you physically abuse women and children. It’s listed right there in the side-effects of playing sports. Dontchaknow.

Last week I was where you are now. I binge-watched Doctor Who and re-read comfort reads until I was over my urge to burn the Earth (or at least the majority of the male population).
