Holly: I cannot believe June is already over. We’re already halfway through 2014? This year is flying by. I set a reading goal of 200 books for 2014 and I’ve read 130 so far (including re-reads). I’m definitely on track to meet (and hopefully exceed) my goal. Hooray!

I read 22 books in June, though many were, once again, re-reads.

Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison (re-read) | 4.75 out of 5
Dragos Takes a Holiday by Thea Harrison (re-read) | 4 out of 5
Pia Saves the Day by Thea Harrison | 4 out of 5
Perfect Fling by Carly Phillips | 4 out of 5
It’s In His Kiss by Jill Shalvis | 4.25 out of 5
Serpent’s Kiss by Thea Harrison (re-read) | 4.25 out of 5
Kaleidoscope by Kristen Ashley (re-read) | 3.75 out of 5
Taking It All by Maya Banks | 4 out of 5
Guarded by Mary Behre | 3 out of 5
Breathe For Me by Natalie Anderson | 3.75 out of 5
Offside by Juliana Stone | 3.5 out of 5
Once in a Lifetime by Jill Shalvis | 4.25 out of 5
Losing Control by Jen Frederick | 3.75 out of 5
Peanut Goes to School by Thea Harrison | 4.25 out of 5
Faking It by Jennifer Crusie (re-read) | 4 out of 5
Fairtytale Come Alive by Kristen Ashley | 3.25 out of 5
Too Fast by Alexia Haynes | 2.75 out of 5
Lady Luck by Kristen Ashley (re-read) | 3 out of 5
Rock Chick Revolution by Kristen Ashley (DNF) | 1.5 out of 5
Breathe by Kristen Ashley (re-read) | 2.75 out of 5
Torn by K.A. Robinson | 1.5 out of 5
Girl at the Gay Bar by Layla Lewis (DNF) | 1 out of 5 (-1?)

My favorite reads of the month were It’s In His Kiss by Jill Shalvis and Peanut Goes to School by Thea Harrison. Shalvis is Shalvis, no surprise there. Peanut Goes to School did take me by surprise, however. 1) It’s a novella and 2) the main character is a 6-month-old 7-year-old (he was born 6 months ago but is aging at a rapid rate). It was really a fabulous read.

My least favorite reads of the month were both DNF’s (did not finish). Girl at the Gay Bar was demeaning and awful. I had to quit after the 1st chapter.  Rock Chick Revolution by Kristen Ashley had a ridiculous plot twist I just couldn’t deal with. I’m a fan of KA (as you know) but she inserted herself into her book and it was way over-the-top.  As for the books I actually finished, Torn by K.A. Robinson was my least favorite.

Rowena: This year is flying by so quickly for me. I seem to have slipped into a bit of a reading slump because I didn’t read very much in the month of June, not even re-reads. If I don’t get my ass in gear, I’m not going to make my reading goals for this year and that will make me sad. Please keep your fingers crossed that I’ll start reading some damn books. 🙂

Here’s what I read in June:

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green | 4.5 out of 5
The Art of Lainey by Paula Stokes | 3 out of 5
Biggest Flirt by Jennifer Echols | 4 out of 5
Only Everything by Kieran Scott | 2.5 out of 5
Whisper to Me by Christina Lee | 4.5 out of 5
All Lined Up by Cora Carmack | 4.5 out of 5
Tease by Sophie Jordan | 4.5 out of 5
Imaginary Lines by Allison Parr | 4 out of 5
Vixen in Velvet by Loretta Chase | 4.5 out of 5
Never Been Kissed by Molly O’Keefe | 3 out of 5
Hung Up by Kristen Tracy | 3 out of 5
Fast Track by Julie Garwood | 4 out 5
It’s In His Kiss by Jill Shalvis | 4.5 out of 5

I read a lot of great books in June so picking a favorite is going to be hard. I don’t think I have a favorite. I adored The Fault in Our Stars, Whisper to Me by Christina Lee, All Lined Up by Cora Carmack, Tease by Sophie Jordan, Vixen in Velvet by Loretta Chase and It’s In His Kiss by Jill Shalvis.  All books were wonderfully written and I loved them all.

My least favorite book of the month goes to Only Everything by Kieran Scott. I’m not sure what went wrong with this book but for me, I didn’t enjoy it nearly as much as I enjoyed Scott’s other books.

This month we’re giving away:

Peanut Goes to School by Thea Harrison (digital only)
Once in a Lifetime by Jill Shalvis (print or digital)
It’s in His Kiss by Jill Shalvis (pre-order in readers choice of format)
Whisper to Me by Christina Lee (readers choice of format)

If you want to be entered to win, leave a comment on this post telling us what your favorite – and least favorite – reads of the month were. Also, be sure to tell us what book you’re interested in reading. You can put your name in for more than one book, but you’ll only be allowed to win one, so choose wisely.

So…what was your favorite read of the month? And your least favorite?

For June… I started glomming the Psy/Changling series by Nalini Singh and they definitely all live up to the hype 😉 I’m up to book 7 now. Least fav was Talon’s Trophy (Hunter’s Catch #1) by Dawn Ryder. It was a kindle freebie and it was… meh… not great not terrible. I’ve read and loved Peanut, so I’m up for any of the other three! Thanks for the fun giveaway!

My favorite book was The Chocolate Temptation by Laura Florand. She is a favorite author of mine. My least favorite was No Apologies by Sybil Bartel. It was told from the heroes point of view but I did not care for his character. Please enter me for It’s In His Kiss.

  4. Sue G.

Interview with a Master by Jason Luke was my favorite. It was not what I was expecting.

My least favorite ???? I can’t really think of a book I read that I didn’t like this past month.

If I won, I’d want It’s in His Kiss by Jill Shalvis in paperback. LOVE this series!

    Thanks for the chance.

  5. My favorite book for June was How to Lose a Duke in 10 Days, by Laura Lee Guhrke. Least fave was Jennifer Haymore’s The Scoundrel’s Seduction. If I win, I’d love a Kindle pre-order of It’s In His Kiss. Thanks.

Favorite books this month – Backwoods by Jill Sorenson. (I’ve enjoyed all the books in this series.) Also Pure Heat (Firehawks) by M. L. Buchman.

Least favorite book – Poughkeepsie by Debra Anastasia. (There was a lot of hype about this book, but I found myself skimming it rather than reading it.)

I’d love to win Peanut Goes to School by Thea Harrison .

  7. ML

    Favorite: Maddy Barone’s shapeshifter series

Least: Pistol by Max Henry, a DNF for me

Either of the Shalvis books would be lovely!

My favorite was Better Homes and Hauntings by Molly Harper. I’m a sucker for a good old-fashioned haunted house story and that combined with two love stories, great characters, and Harper’s humor made it an instant favorite.

My least favorite was Never Trust a Pirate by Anne Stuart. It seemed like the same story as the first book in the series but not as well done.

  9. CelineB

I forgot to put a choice for a book to win! I’d love It’s In His Kiss by Jill Shalvis. Thanks for the giveaway!

My favorites for the month were both UFs, Grave Dance by Kalayna Price and Twisted Miracles by AJ Larrieu. Seems like I’ve been in the mood for UF and PNR lately. Least favorite was a freebie I picked up awhile back called And He Cooks Too by Barbara Barrett. There was nothing particularly wrong with it, it just didn’t grab me. I’d be happy to win any of the books. I love Jill Shalvis and Thea Harrison, and I’m curious to try Christina Lee.

Yikes, I can’t believe we’re in July, we’re halfway to Christmas! LOL!

I had a tie for favorite of the month. I really couldn’t choose one over the other since they’re both from authors I absolutely love. The first was Something About You from Julie James. I loved the funny bantering and the secondary characters from this book and I’m so looking forward to reading the rest of this series. And my second fave was At Last from Jill Shalvis. I love returning to Lucky Harbor time and time again.

Least favorite was If You Give A Girl A Viscount from Kieran Kramer. I had read the first 3 books from this series and I wanted to finish the last book. I found that I loved the first one, but then the rest went downhill from there. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but the rest weren’t as good as I hoped they would be.

Please enter me for Jill Shalvis’ It’s in His Kiss!!!!! Thanks 🙂

  12. Kim

My favorite this month is the The Escape by Mary Balogh. I didn’t read a lot this month, so I don’t have a least favorite.

Please enter me into the drawing for both of Jill Shalvis’ books.

  13. bn100

least fav: the siren by Tiffany Reisz
    no fav this month
Please enter me for all the books

  14. Ada

My favorite read this month was Rules to Catch a Devilish Duke by Suzanne Enoch. I really enjoy this series, the hero and heroine in this story was a particularly good match.

My least favorite read was Alexandra Hawkins’ After Dark With a Scoundrel. I didn’t hate the book per se, but out of all the books I read this month it was at the bottom of the list. I had a few issues with the plot and it wasn’t as good as I had expected it to be.

I would totally love to win It’s In His Kiss from Jill Shalvis!!!!!!
