The Bride Wore Size 12
Rowena’s review of The Bride Wore Size 12 (Heather Wells #4) by Meg Cabot.

Heather Wells is used to having her cake and eating it too, but this time her cake just might be cooked. Her wedding cake, that is.

With her upcoming nuptials to PI Cooper Cartwright only weeks away, Heather’s already stressed. And when a pretty junior turns up dead, Heather’s sure things can’t get worse—until every student in the dorm where she works is a possible suspect, and Heather’s long-lost mother shows up.

Heather has no time for a tearful mother and bride reunion. She has a wedding to pull off and a murder to solve. Instead of wedding bells, she might be hearing wedding bullets, but she’s determined to bring the bad guys to justice if it’s the last thing she does . . . and this time, it just might be.

This is the last book in the Heather Wells series and I was looking forward to reading it. How can you not be excited to read a Heather Wells book and get more Cooper Cartwright? You can never get too much Cooper Cartwright.

In this book, Heather and Cooper are weeks away from saying, “I do” so things should be great for Heather and things are until she shows up to work to find that one of her junior RA’s is dead and she’s got a whole lot of residents leading her suspects list. To add to her already rising shit list, Heather is learning as the day wears on that more and more people are invited to the small wedding she had been envisioning for her and Cooper’s big day. And that’s thanks to her soon to be sister in law and while she’s trying to be okay with all of the new additions, things keep getting worse because her mother shows up at her house, expecting to be welcomed and that’s never going to happen because well, she left Heather years and years ago with all of Heather’s hard-earned money. That’s nothing to lightly forgive for, especially since I didn’t think Heather’s Mom was all that sorry.

As always, Meg Cabot packs a whole bunch of laughs in this one. I laughed quite a bit while I reading it and that made this reading experience zip right through. What I like about reading Cabot’s books is that I know what to expect and Cabot never fails to deliver.

But my favorite part of this book was that it wasn’t bogged down with Jordan Cartwright and his fiance’/girlfriend/whatever she is, Tonya.

There were times when Heather drove me crazy (like when she didn’t immediately kick her mother out and how she kept letting her mother talk down to her and dismiss her feelings after everything that she put Heather through) but I laughed enough that I was able to look over a lot of the bulldozing that was done to Heather. But in the end, I closed this book with a smile on my face. Meg Cabot knows how to write a story that just keeps you giggling long into the night. This was a fabulous ending to a great and entertaining series. I thought it lent the whole series the perfect send off and I was glad to have been a part of the ride.

I definitely recommend this book. It was a good book and while it wasn’t my favorite book of the series, it was still enjoyable and I’m still a happy camper.
