Holly: March was a crazy reading month for me. I didn’t read my first book until March 13, yet I still managed to read 31 books. Of course the bulk of my reading time was spent re-reading old favorites (Rowena is 100% to blame for this). 19 of those, in fact. Plus I read 5 parts of The Kraken King serial by Meljean Brook and counted them separately.  Still, even if I count those as one I’d still say I had a pretty killer month.

  • Count on Me by Lauren Dane 4.5/5
  • The Kraken King Part V:
  • The Kraken King Part IV: The Kraken King and the Inevitable Abduction 4/5
  • the Kraken King Part III: The Kraken King and the Fox’s Den 4/5
  • The Kraken King Part II: The Kraken King and the Abominable Worm 4/5
  • The Kraken King Part I: The Kraken King and the Scribbling Spinster 4/5
  • Better Than Perfect by Kristina Mathews 3.5/5
  • Crux by Miranda Kavi 2/5
  • Playing it Close by Kat Latham 4/5
  • Castle Hill by Samantha Young (re-read) 4/5
  • Tethered by Meljean Brook (re-read) 4.25/5
  • Down London Road by Samantha Young (re-read) 4.5/5
  • Caught Up in Us by Lauren Blakely 3.75/5
  • Flee by Miranda Kavi 2/5
  • Riveted by Meljean Brook (re-read) 4/5
  • Preservation by Rachael Wade 1.5/5
  • Heart of Steel by Meljean Brook (re-read) 4.5/5
  • The Iron Duke by Meljean Brook (re-read) 4.25/5
  • Here There Be Monsters by Meljean Brook (re-read) 4.5/5
  • Spell of the Highlander by Karen Marie Moning (re-read) 3/5
  • Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie (re-read) 4/5
  • See Jane Score by Rachel Gibson (re-read) 4/5
  • The Dark Highlander by Karen Marie Moning (re-read) 3.5/5
  • Mr. Perfect by Linda Howard (re-read) 4/5
  • Crazy for You by Jennifer Crusie (re-read) 3.75/5
  • The Return of Eden McCall by Judith Duncan (re-read) 4/5
  • Always by Jean Renick (re-read) 3.5/5
  • Honor’s Splendour by Julie Garwood (re-read) 4.25/5
  • The Secret by Julie Garwood (re-read) 4/5
  • Midnight Rainbow by Linda Howard (re-read) 3.75/5
  • Alpha and Omega by Patricia Briggs (re-read) 4/5

Not counting re-reads, my favorite read of the month was Count on Me by Lauren Dane. This book returned to Petal, Georgia and really sucked me in. I love that town, I love the inhabitants and I love the way Dane writes. Honorable mention goes to Meljean Brook for The Kraken King. If only all the parts were available now!

My least favorite read of the month was Preservation by Rachael Wade, followed closely by Flee and Crux by Miranda Kavi. Preservation was wrong on so many levels and the Kavi series was nothing to get too excited about. I’m also going to list Spell of the Highlander here. Not because it’s an awful book, but because I loved that book like cops love donuts back in the day, and this re-read left a lot to be desired. I still liked parts of the story, but most of it I just rolled my eyes at.

Rowena: Holy shit Holly! You read that many books last month?  I want to call bullshit but if anyone could do it, it’d be your ass.  I did a whole lot of re-reading myself in March and that is completely Holly’s fault.  Like 1000% Holly’s fault.  But I can’t say that I was mad about it since, I re-read a lot of my favorite books which included:

  • Be with You by J Lynn | 4 out of 5
  • Divergent by Veronica Roth | 4.5 out of 5
  • Waiting on You by Kristan Higgins | 1 out of 5
  • #16ThingsIThoughWereTrue by Janet Gurtler | 3 out of 5
  • The Summer I Found You by Jolene Perry | 2.5 out of 5
  • Believe by Erin McCarthy | 3.75 out of 5
  • Divergent by Veronica Roth | 4.5 out of 5 (read this twice in March)
  • Fifty First Times Anthology | 3.75 out of 5
  • The Wedding by Julie Garwood | 4.75 out of 5
  • Paradise by Judith McNaught | 4 out of 5
  • Spell of the Highlander by Karen Marie Moning | 4.75 out of 5
  • Seaswept by Nora Roberts | 4.75 out of 5
  • In No Mood for Love by Rachel Gibson | 4.5 out of 5
  • Almost Heaven by Judith McNaught | 5 out of 5

My favorite read that was not a re-read last month goes to Divergent by Veronica Roth.  I have become completely obsessed with this movie.  I liked the book, the first time around but it was my second read of this book (after seeing the movie) that really made me come to love the characters and the story.  It’s a confusing world to jump into for new readers and I didn’t completely understand the whole storyline so it was hard for me to really focus on what was happening, who was who, who can we trust and that kind of thing but seeing the movie (and enjoying the changes the movie brought to the story) I thought it was a pretty decent read.  I’m embarrassed to tell you guys how many times I’ve paid to watch the movie in theaters (shut up Holly) but in my defense…I did it for the kids. 🙂  And plus, who could blame me with how freaking hot Four was?

My least favorite read of the month goes to Waiting on You by Kristan Higgins.  I was expecting to really like this book since I liked Colleen in the other Blue Heron books but unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.  Colleen did a lot of shit that pissed me off throughout her book and she was like a completely different person from the one I thought I knew from the other books.  I wasn’t a fan of the tactics she used to get Bryce to notice Paulie.  I wasn’t a fan of how immature she acted toward Lucas and while I understood why she felt the way she did, I wished she acted like a grown up where Lucas was concerned.  So yeah, that one didn’t work for me at all.

This month, we’re giving away:

Be with You by J. Lynn
Count on Me by Lauren Dane (Digital Pre-order only)

If you want to be entered to win, leave a comment on this post telling us what your favorite – and least favorite – reads of the month were. I just finished Satisfaction by Sarah Mayberry. I would give it 4.5 stars. Much more erotic than her other novels in the best possible way. Love her writing.

  2. Leigh

I’d love to win Count on Me!

Let’s see…I read 31 books in March. My favorite was definitely The Red Sheet by Mia Kerick. And my least favorite was Double Full by Kindle Alexander.

  3. Don’t enter me, I have too many books already!

Favorite read: The Bad Baron’s Daughter by Laura London. So much fun! I’m so glad these books are available again.

Least favorite: The unbelievable trainwreck that was The Duke is Mine by Eloisa James.

I was on vacation in NZ in March, so I didn’t read that many books (too busy hiking). My absolute fave was Any Duchess Will Do by Tessa Dare. I know her books are not at all historically accurate, but I just love her romances. Least favorite was Lost and Found by Tamara Larson. I love the Petal, GA books, so I’d love to win Count On Me.

  5. Maureen

My favorite read from March was Fool Me Twice by Meredith Duran and my least favorite was Changing His Game by Justine Elvira and Eileen Proksch. Both books look good.
